Product Review: The Nikon EII 10 x 35.

I have the 8x30 EII and, as an eyeglass wearer, find the eye relief not suitable at all for me. Others, I'm sure, will have different opinions, but for me the EII doesn't work well.

Show us your "vintage" and classic binos

Very nice collection, Jerry! I have the same models, all P*, but my 10x40 BGAT is a bit older than yours. The 7x42 & 8x56 are AK's, the other two SP.

Ultravid BL, is it still available?

Hey Alaska, I have the 2017 edition of the 8x42 Safari that is HD Plus. I believe the edition prior to that lacked the latest coatings/updates. From what I can determine, they are a special edition of the discontinued black BL model.

    Zeiss SFL 8x30?

Indeed, Andy. I can certainly see the appeal of this glass by the many here on BF who rave about it. For a person who does not wear glasses, I suspect there's little not to like about the E2.

    Zeiss SFL 8x30?

Hey Brock! I, as you, suffer from astigmatism which requires me to use glasses in order to gain a truly clear viewing experience. My E2's serial number is 82097X, so I gather they possess the most recent coatings/updates. I can see how someone who does not require eyeglasses could get along...

    Zeiss SFL 8x30?

Indeed, Will, and thanks for your reply. In addition to the alpha Swaro's, Leica's and Zeiss' I have, I also have many far less expensive roof's that I purchased as a result of the recommendations from the good folks here on BF. (Sightron, Bushnell, Athlon) Most surprisingly for me, they all...

    Zeiss SFL 8x30?

At the risk of getting dogpiled here, I have the Nikon E2 8x30's as well, and, FOR ME, these bino's, while quite sharp as you stated, aren't wide-angled anything. As an eyeglass wearer, they actually offer, FOR ME, a very restricted FOV; I gather it's due to the very small eye relief but...

    Ultravid

I got one of the Safari HD models a few years ago at a fairy decent discount. For whatever reason, they appeared not to be a hot item at the time.

Cleaning a fogged barrel early Trinovid 10x40B

FWIW, I had 2 of the older Trinovids, the 7x35 & 8x40, both suffering from what I initially thought to be internal fogging. Upon closer inspection, however, the silver on the prisms had actually deteriorated over time which gave the appearance of fogging. The only recourse was to replace the...

Late Zeiss 8x56 hard case - How do I tether the leather straps?

I ordered the 8x56 case too, and Rathaus was kind enough to let me know the approximate turnaround time it took for his case to arrive. Mine took exactly 2 months from the time I ordered it until it arrived at my door in the U.S. I did email the Binostore after about 6 weeks, inquiring how...

    Zeiss 7x50, need expert help.

I purchased an identical set new from Deutsche Optic in the mid-90's for around $250 if memory serves. They came in a rather flimsy blue box marked Carl Zeiss Jena with a Docter Eisfeld stamp on the bottom of the box. Likewise, the warranty cards and instructions were marked with both CJZ and...

So, do we have a picture of this so-called defective Zeiss bino? Curious, that's all.

    Unimpressed with Zeiss Warranty Service

FWIW, I've never had a problem at all with Zeiss USA service, quite the contrary in fact. All of my bino's were bought through authorized dealers and the only times I've had to return them is for what I honestly can not describe as anything other than normal wear & tear. Zeiss quickly made the...

    Binoculars in literature

"The M IV/1T Carl Zeiss 7x50 binoculars, without case, weighed two pounds, eight ounces, as compared with the other best 7x50's in the Atlantic at the time-the British Barr and Stroud Pattern 1900A, which weighed a full pound more. The Zeiss was seven inches long, the Barr and Stroud nine. The...

Good price for Zeiss 8x32 FL?

Dear Ashu, Before I bought them, I had my wife check the website to see if they offered the same price (to save the 6% PA. sales tax, but she said that their website still listed them for $1449, so I went ahead and bought them there. I have not seen them anywhere for less than $1449, but who...
