    Is this Little Egret

Hi Sapphire. I live in CQ when not at uni, so I know it is highly unlikely to walk along the Dee and not see a Little Egret these days! And yes, that's a Little Egret. :) Much in the way of waders at the mo there Sapphire?

    Rycycle's 2006 List

Well it's been nearly a month and a half since I last posted my list updates, but due to foreign racing and work I've been too lazy to do any real bird watching. However, travelling and racing in the forests of Lithuania provided a few bonuses, as did a week camping in Denmark :) See for...

Alcina, Saw my first one just off the edge of Burbage Moor this weekend gone. Not any good if you're county listing S.Yorks but hope it's of some interest. PM me if you want more precise directions.

    Best bird of the DAY?

Cuckoo for me today. Although, the brief view of a flying yellow bird, balckbird-sized was screaming Oriole at me. I'ld like to have the time to go out and refind it, but it's exam time. Rubbish

Have you ever been scared by a bird?

Night running in the peak district can produce a few heart stoppers! I love the way Grouse wait until youve literally stepped on them before exploding out under your face and screeming summat terrible. Took a while to get used to that osrt of thing I can tell you!

Skylark's & Cuckoo's have you seen or heard.

I'm lucky enough to live in Sheffield at uni, and so see and hear plenty of Skylarks when out running the hills. Heard my first Cuckoo of the year just this weekend up in Scotland near Oban. Didn't see it as I was in the middle of a race, as is often the case with many birds I hear! Just as a...

    Best April bird

Mine was Alpine Swift at Barnston, just for sheer rarity value or a G.S. Woodpecker identified firstly by its flight pattern and then actual viewing :) I'm getting better!
