    HR80 ED vs Kowa 823

Thanks a lot for the info/advice chap. In all honesty i think i will just stick with my HR80ED. I think i'm telling myself the other scopes will surpass it by miles when in reality it likely won't be the case. Thanks again 😉

    HR80 ED vs Kowa 823

I keep being swayed by the reviews i read of the Nikon ED82 & i know it's 25-75x has FOV issues but apparently makes up for it in image quality. My dilemma is how much better would the image quality be over the HR80ED & if it turns out to be minimal i'd be mad at myself! Is the latest SDL that...

    HR80 ED vs Kowa 823

Thanks for the info! I seem to be a bit torn between keeping my HR80ED & SDL v1, 27x, 38x HDF eyepieces. It's not that i'm unhappy with the scope at all, just that i'm wondering what is a lot better for not much money. I even thought sbout a Nikon ED82 with the 20-75x zoom & 30x MC II wide...

Stay on Case ES80 vs HR80

Hi, Will my ES80ED SoC fit the HR80ED? I noticed in the specs that the HR80 is only about 15mm longer so i'm hoping i can get away with it. Thanks

    Phonescoping with ED78/82

Hi, Does anybody do a bit of Phonescoping with either the ED82 or 78 models? How are the results & do you need a specific phone adapter to fit over the larger eyepieces? Thanks

    New Opticron 80mm ED scope

I read that the MM4 77ED out performs any Opticron 80mm scopes in every way inc the HR80ED. Actually thinking of getting the MM 77ED myself & selling my ES80ED v3.

    Haze in body prism

Hi, Hoping someone can give me a bit more info on the aboce title. I'm thinking about upgrading my ES80EDv3 to an HR80 ED & found one but the seller said it has light haze in the body prism & he said it still produces an unaffected image so i'm just trying to find a bit more out about the issue...

Nikon ED78 vs Opticron ES80 GA ED v3

Hi All, Just wondered if anyone could give me a definitive answer on the above please? I own the Opticron ES80 ED v3 with the HDF 23x & 32x & i'm happy with it but i've never looked through an ED78 or ED82 for that matter but krrp hearing how great they are even though fairly old by today's...

    ES80 GA vs ES80 GA ED v3

Hi, Many thanks for your reply! This is what's putting off looking for a used one as my own is very good & wouldn't want to spend say £300 for something that's only a fraction better. I do own an HDF 20-60 Zoom but i love the 23x & 32x so much that i only use the zoom for looking at the Moon...

    ES80 GA vs ES80 GA ED v3

Hi, I'm under good authority that the first ES80 has ED glass although not stated on the body. I currently use this scope with the following eyepieces HDF 23x & 32x & i'm very happy with it at my local woods watching birds & the red squirrels. Anyway is their much difference the 2 above scopes...

    Phonescoping - 23x or 32x ?

Hi, New member here. I've always been into birds/wildlife for the past 40yrs & although i've had binoculars/scopes it's only recently i've taken an interest in phonescoping so please bear with me. I have an ES80 ED with a HDF 32x but i'm wondering if the HDF 23x would be a better option? Any...
