    New AX Visio 10x32 binocular

Interesting comment re the 10x32’s and stabilisation. I haven’t got Holger Merlitz’s book, so don’t know his argument re magnification and stabilisation. Are you saying that all users of 10x32’s would experience a significant amount of shake? Only ask because I’m considering a pair of...

A Zeiss Conquest HD on steroids.

I purchased the Conquest 8x32’s about 15 months ago. I found them unusable due to blackouts. Got the extended eyecups and they made all the difference. They are an excellent pair of binoculars.

    SFL30 comments and experiences

By ‘this range’ do you mean all of the SFL’s? Not just the SFL30s?

Nikon ED82A scope v Smaller Scopes eg Swarovski 65 HD or others

Yes, that’s sound advice. Just have to decide between the EDiii and the ED50.

SFL 8x40: impressions after 20 years with Swarovski EL's

Re edge to edge sharpness, does it have any advantage at all for bird watching? I can see the advantage for astronomy.

Nikon ED82A scope v Smaller Scopes eg Swarovski 65 HD or others

Thanks for the info. A lot of the Fieldscope offerings on eBay are from Japan. Don't know whether that matters?

Nikon ED82A scope v Smaller Scopes eg Swarovski 65 HD or others

I will be keeping the ED82 as it’s great on my local lake. Birds are only viewable from a few points along the lake and they can be over 1000m away. This scope works very well for this. However I would like a waterproof, small, angled scope for other occasions as I do not enjoy carrying the...

The Zeiss SFL 8x30 compared with select current 8x30/8x32 roof binoculars

Ok, so optically speaking, is there any point in 'upgrading' from the Conquest 8x32 to the SFL 8x30 or 8x40? From your findings, it appears not.

Nikon ED82A scope v Smaller Scopes eg Swarovski 65 HD or others

Thanks for that. I had indeed never heard of scope packs. Is your ATS80 much bigger/heavier the the ATS65?

Nikon ED82A scope v Smaller Scopes eg Swarovski 65 HD or others

Well, that is what I thought might be the case. The ED82 is so good for my local lake That I don’t think I would want to do without it. Looking out for a used EDIIIA sounds like a good idea. Thanks

    My new NL Pure 8x32

Interesting, I'm going to try both the 8x32 and the 10x32's tomorrow. No blackouts with the 8's?

As a matter of interest, did you consider the 10x32's?

Nikon ED82A scope v Smaller Scopes eg Swarovski 65 HD or others

After about a 25 year absence I got back into bird watching when I retired about a year ago. I had a NIKON ED II scope with a 20 and 30mm eyepieces. After seeking advice, from this forum, I purchased the 20-60mm eyepiece. The eyepiece 'came with' a ED82A scope. I really like the view through...

    Eyepieces for Nikon ED II

Hermann, Here are some pictures. I guess the x30 os not WA. I'm surprised that the 20-60x is better than the 20-45. I assumed that the longer focal range would have made it less good. Andrew

    Eyepieces for Nikon ED II

    Eyepieces for Nikon ED II

Having been away from bird watching for a number of years I have come back to it fairly recently. I have a Nikon Fieldscope ED II with both the x20 and x30 eyepieces. I was thinking of getting the 20-45x zoom. Please could someone who has or had had this eyepiece comment on its image quality...

Buying first new binoculars in 30 years

Thanks for all the information Ed. I no longer have the Dialyts. They were a fine binocular which I thought I would keep for the next 30 years!

Buying first new binoculars in 30 years

Thanks for all the information. My ownership of the Dialyts came to an unexpected sudden end, hence the need to get new bins.

Buying first new binoculars in 30 years

Well, I was thinking of spending up to £1500 (happy to spend less!) and I am not averse to buying used. Regarding weight, upto about 800g would be about my limit. Not too bothered re size.

Buying first new binoculars in 30 years

I'm replacing my Zeiss 7x42 Dialyts which I purchased in 1991 or thereabouts. In the intervening years the only other binoculars that I have looked through were my wife's 10x40 Optolyths and 8x32 Opticrons. I've been reading various posts in this forum and a lot talk about flat field v curved...
