    Pocket binoculars

The pocket of your jeans or the pocket of your jacket? In my experience I do only put them (8x20 or 7x21) in the pocket of my jacket. In summertime I prefer carrying them bandolier style. I do not put them in the pockets of my jeans.

    Pocket binoculars

Maybe I will give the Ultravid 10x25 a try, but I suppose I wouldn't really like them because of the narrow eyecups (like the 8x20's have). The Curio 7x21 is more comfortable imo. I found the CL 25's the most comfortable in that aspect, well fitting eyecups. But they are heavy, that is true...

    Pocket binoculars

Hi Mike, You do like the VP 25's also without wearing glasses? For me the eyecups are too short. But maybe I can get used to it. However, I think the CL 25's are more comfortable in that way. I have had the Trinovid 8x20 and tried the Ultravid 8x20 shortly. But they weren't really comfortable...

    Pocket binoculars

Hi Trinovid, Is it the small exit pupil of the VP 10x25 you didn't really like? Or is a 10x25 just too lightweight too hold steady? I have the Curio 7x21 and like it for it's size. But since it is just 7x and the afov is a bit limited I feel some urge to complement it with a 8x25 or 10x25 for...

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

So the Habicht 10x40 didn't work for you and I get that. Very nice binoculars, but it has its restrictions for being purely for bird watching. The SFL 10x40 would have been nice, but the eyecups are too wide for your liking? I have the NL Pure 10x32 and really like it, althought it is a bit...

    Habicht for birdwatching?

Hi Viraj, how are you going along with the Habicht 7x42 after a couple of months? You still like it? Is it way better than the NL 8x42 in low light? Just curious :).

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

Have you ever considered the CL companion 8x30 or 10x30? They have quite narrow eyecups. If you like the CL 8x25 you might like the CL 8x30 or 10x30 too.

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

I have a wife to keep happy as well. That's why I have the 4th and the 5th. ;)

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

I actually gave myself some "limits" which helps me deciding which binoculars I'd like to have and to limit the amount of binoculars. My limits: Weight ≤ 1 kg Exit pupil ≥ 3 mm Magnification ≤ 12x and ≥ 7x Amount of good binoculars in possession ≤ 5 (very cheap and binoculars not counted) I...

    My first pair, help please.

I think 10x32 is a great format, but I would go one step up. I recommend Zeiss Conquest 10x32 or Leica Trinovid 10x32. Both really nice, but more expensive for sure.

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

Is said to myself, enough is enough. 😉 And I have drawn the line at < 1 kg and both are or will be heavier. Not really a temptation for me.

    Choosing a new 10x42?

I agree. 110mm fov for a 10 power is nice. Less feels a bit restrictive . That's why I would vote for a secondhand swarovski SLC 10x42, Zeiss conquest 10x42 or Leica Trinovid 10x42. Or maybe the smaller brothers, 10x32. All with decent fov and very nice optics.

    Speculative 10x30/32 question

But quite heavy, aren't they? They look gorgeous, that is right for sure!

    Choosing a new 10x42?

Ow, I like the spanish wetlands! Lots of very nice birds I miss back home in The Netherlands... Enjoy!

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

Well, I like having different types of binoculars. Since I have the NL 10x32 already I like to add an EL as well. I like the bigger exit pupil, so a bit more suitable for low light. I like watching boar, deer, etc. in twilight. Mostly in open fields far away. The SLC 8x42 is a bit limited with...

    Speculative 10x30/32 question

I vote for a secondhand EL 10x32 too. The NL 10x32 (which I have) is not remarkably better imo, but about 70g heavier. If size and weight is really important, the CL Companion 10x30 might be interesting as well. For me an exit pupil of >= 3 mm is comfortable enough for daylight use. I have no...

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

Having said that. 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose? At the moment: NL 10x32 and EL 12x50.

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

This (my quote) actually is the answer to that question. This is also my line up at the moment: CL 7x21, SLC 8x42, NL 10x32 and EL 12x50. Together with the scope ATC 17-40x56. I also have the trinovid 8x20, but I think I will sell it because I have the CL 7x21 now. My first thought was: one...

Any "compact scopes" that you like?

Nice to see more people believing in Christ being our Lord. God bless you Chuck. I vote for the ATC 56, although the STC 56 would be nice too. I have the ATC 56 and even like to use it without a tripod.

Case for 32 nl pure with head rest

The case that came with the EL 32 and SLC 42 is a perfect fit for the NL 32, with or without the headrest. Unfortunately it is hard to find one lately.

    Choosing pocket binoculars

Why did you go for Mountain instead of Wild Nature? The strap? The colours? The case?
  22. R

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

I don't think that is true. The AFOV of the SF 10x32 is larger than the AFOV of NL 8x32. The NL 8x32 doesn't really shine with is AFOV compared with all the other NL's.
  23. R

    Choosing pocket binoculars

Is there a reason why you went with Mountain? I didn't really like the strap coming with the Wild Nature. I think a cord/string is more comfortable. I want to add the CL 10x25 one day and am now considering Mountain as well.

Very light* setup (binoculars + scope)

Yes, I have the same experience. I have three children now (the youngest still a baby) and like being outside with them, like walking, cycling (which we do a lot in pancake Netherlands) or just in the garden. That's why I love the compacts a lot and just got this lovely Curio 7x21. I prefer...

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

Why not the other way around? So NL 10x32 and SF 8x32. FOV NL 10x32 > FOV SF 10x32 and FOV SF 8x32 > FOV NL 8x32. Or did it just happen to be this way?
