    I have always had good service from Vortex. You call and a human being answers and helps you with your issue. I have found the same from Oberwerk and Maven.

    That's interesting. It's good to get a report from someone who has held one. I also thought 19 mm eye relief would be enough. For the price I would expect near edge to edge clarity. I guess I will wait and see if they put out a Viper.

    I emailed Vortex about a possible Viper 8x32. The response was that it is not out of the question. So it wasn't a no. Probably as good an answer as I will get at this point.

    They look very nice. If you are in the military, a veteran, or first responder you can get a 40% discount. That would make the 8x32 for $1290. Still a lot of money, but maybe now within your price range. You have to contact Vortex to register and give proof of service.

    I suggested the Vortex Bantam 6.5x32 which is 70 dollars and I think Vortex would probably discount them some for you. They are good for kids and actually are a good binocular. I was pleased at how good they are for the price. They seem to fit the bill for what you want them for.

    I have the Hawke's. As you might expect they have a narrow fov, but are pretty good. They are light and easy to carry on your belt. If you want something with a better fov and is brighter, you might consider the Maven 7x28 or Vortex 8x28. Both are larger and heavier, but can still fit in a belt...

    I have a Maven C series 7x28 and it is a great little binocular. I use it for bird watching and hiking. It's a good company.

    Compared to the Maven 7x28 it has a larger fov, 7.2 vs. 6.5. It has 2 mm more eye relief. The Maven has better close focus at 9.8 ft. The Maven is a bit smaller and lighter at 12.4 ounces.     Anyone can recommend a good binocular under 200 euro? I prefer 8x32.

    I gave the DB to my niece, she was going on a trip. I found the eye relief didn't work well for me anyway. Oddly the P7, if you position it the right way, had better eye relief for me. It also has a good fov. The DB is a good binocular though. I have the 8x28 DB.

    Maven 7x28 review

    My Maven 7x28 is quite sharp. I used it this morning. I also have the Hawke Marine 7x32 and it is even sharper.

    If you can actually try the binocular out personally that is best. What works for one might not work for another.

    Porro's tend to be heavier. The Kowa 6x30 YF or Oberwerk 6.5x32 lw are both light, but have less magnification then you want. 30 mm aperture is prone to glare. You could try the Nikon M5, Maven 8x30, Vortex DB 8x32. I like the Hawke 7x32 ED Marine, very nice glass.

    I have found that what works for me with eye relief is not the same for others. This I think is the case where you can't be sure until you try it. The P7's work for me, but they are finicky when it comes to eye positioning. I was actually rather surprised they worked.

    I don't tell my friends the number of binoculars I own. They might try to stage an intervention. Can't have that interrupt my addict...I mean hobby.

    Binocollector mentioned the Nikon P7 8x30 as being unusable with glasses. I had the same fear, but took a chance. With my glasses they seem to work okay as long as I mind my eye placement. Others may be annoyed by that or be unable to use them with their glasses. I decided to order thru Amazon...

    Advice on a good 12x50+ that won't break the bank

    I have the Obie and the focuser is a bit stiff. I haven't used it in wet weather, since I do mostly astronomy that isn't an issue for me. However, the glass itself is great. Spent some time looking at the moon thru them and it was wonderful.

    Best current 7x42 roof option?

    Don't know if anyone has mentioned it, but I have the Pentax 7x42 ED, it is a very fine binocular.
