Adhoc, don’t worry. Thread has been dormant for some time. 😊 I have good company for bino outings but not too often. When I am out on my own my set up varies, often ”just” the 12x50HD on a monopod, sometimes just an 7/8x. With the BTX I prefer bringing a smaller handheld bino, for convenience. -

I also think the Meostar focusers are generally on the slow side. The one on the 12x50 is very even and smooth and I don't find it as slow in practical use as on the 8x32. Maybe it is because I seldom go from near to far range but more often from far range to mid range on the 12X. On the... -

Oh, it seems we have similar eye cup issues. I am not sure you would like the 12x50 then. If you are saying the older Trinovids are better it makes me curious to try one out some day. I am not entirely happy with the 7x42 uvhd eye cups. But, since I now have a smooth focuser I am coping... -

Compared to the SFL 8x40 the Meopta is a little less of everything. After some use I don’t think of it much unless I would compare them, I think adequate is a poor choice of words, the Meopta is great. It is one of those perfect size bins for my hands and that is worth plenty for a bino, even... -

tenex, you are right. On the Meopta 8x32 I did have to pay extra attention to the Diopter setting which made a difference. It lacks a little bit of contrast compared to the UVHD+. That probably makes for the perceived (not necessarily true) difference in apparent sharpness at far. That aside... -

Thinking about it, the new investors are probably not very well aware of the history of Meopta other than "brochure deep". They might not have been looking closely at how Meopta have been advertising (or NOT) the different segments over time. Surely they look at the numbers - but not what has... -

I agree. Probably pure number crunching from their part. Usually that leads to streamlining the portfolio and in worst case Meopta loses the uniqueness of the brand and turns into just another optics manufacturer, catering more to other industries. -

My experience with Meopta is that there is a significant difference between the HD and non HD models in the Meostar line-up. The 10x42 HD and the 12x50 HD especially have superb center resolution, high contrast and very low to zero CA in the center of the image. In this regard I think they are... -

Zeiss SFL 8x40, A Field Review
Not the same comparison but I have compared the SFL 8x40 to the Leica 7x42 HD Plus and was surprised to find the SFL brighter and easier to focus when light levels are low. This was what convinced me to not get the Leica which I will always find excuses to try out - and get. ;) SFL 8x40 still... -

This is my beloved Meopta 12x50HD. Optically it is my best binocular. It has been modified by removing the original eye cups and replacing them with rubber hose connectors. This gives me that extra mm or so for even better eye comfort with glasses. My 12x50HD has sufficient, but not great, eye... -

I do agree 100% with GColes post. For me the eye cups are great. With and without glasses. The B1 Plus has a new armor. I prefer the previous B1.1 armor. On my 12x50HD I have the new armor and a perfect focuser. There can be a little slight slop in the Meostar focusers changing direction... -
