    Western x clarks grebe hybrid on the right? Sorry The glare made the picture bad, but I did not change any saturation settings, Washington.

    last weekend. Only reason is that I saw about 15 western grebes that day in different locations, and none had that less black around the eye.

    H What are differences to look out for when determining northern goshawk immatures? I think adult is fairly identifiable.

    I ruled out sharp shinned from size, it was flying with a golden eagle. I couldn’t accurately determine it but sharpies are fairly small and I judged it to be at least a crow size.

    Was soaring with a golden eagle, but was a little higher so I couldn't really judge the size. Habitat was favorable as i was in the lower elevation of the cascades

    Antillean or Common nighthawk. May, grassy key, florida keys

    I’ve concluded to a 90% certainty it’s Antillean. One because of contrasting tertials, and the white mark on the wing does not reach the edge. In that area there has only been one common nighthawk sighted and it was a male. Secondly there are at least 2 Antilleans present 1 male and 1 female...

    Had a discussion about a common nighthawk a while back. Only reason Im leaning towards antillean is because they nest in this same spot every year.

    I feel it is an indigo bunting because of range, but the line on the cheek and the chest streaks are putting me off.

    As long as 1 of them is gcth it’s all good. I have a personal rule of not adding a bird to my life list unless I get a photo and I had a very good birder say that his opinion on 6 is Swainson’s

    5th shows no spectacle (poor pic tho), but you agree with 6 as gray cheeked? because Im getting so many conflicted views now, from experienced birders from florida. This is giving me headache.

    here, sorry I didn't click upload. All images only have exposure changed, everything else is as the photo was taken. Added image 6 & 5 extra. Image 1 was the same as the previous 4, different angle. my opnion in order: Swainson's, Swainson's, Gray cheeked, Swainson's, Gray cheeked, gray cheeked

    #1, #2 and #4 are swainson's, #4 is not a veery i found another angle and the streaks/dots are lower on the chest, #3 could possibly be gray cheeked but dont need ID as I found a clear photo of gray cheeked in my camera roll . Bicknells is not on the gulf coast. Topic can be closed

    I agree with first 2 now, 3 I thought was gray cheeked since it was grayish rather than reddish brown and no eye ring. But I thought lack of spotting made 4 a veery. For 4, other people at the place ID it to be a gray cheeked, but I felt it was either a Swainsons or veery and leaned towards...
