    Peregrine perched on the BT Tower this morning. Observed from St Chads tram stop.

    Hides and Watching sites

    Ashleworth Ham and Coombe Hill (both near to Cheltenham) come to mind. Then Nagshead in the Forest of Dean (Cannop Ponds, Worgreens, New Fancy View and Parkend are all great sites as well but no hides).

    I'll keep a look out. On a walk around the city centre I was surprised by the number of juvinile gulls about. I assume they can't fly yet. Possibly make a nice snack for a Peregrine or two;)

    Water Rail last Saturday near the sluice gate on Forge Mill. Thinking that i imagined it but someone in the hide confirmed they had seen one in the same area on Sunday. Are they usually around this time of year?

    Possibly 2 Skylarks at Swan Pool (on the field that has signs warning people about nesting Skylarks). No hovering but they were flittering about making some noise. No crest on the head either. Here's a pic. Skylark or something else?

    Yesterday I heard a loud piglet sounding squeel whilst at Forge Mill. Could that be a Water Rail? Also heard the Cetti's Warbler, two Buzzards flying over FML and a LRP landed on the islands opposite the hide. Also, Robins seem to have taken over the whole Valley (plenty of Chiffchaf's chiff...

    They seem to have taken over the city centre centre. See/hear them alll along Newhall Street, Summer row and along the canal. I wonder if they're getting quite successful in the city centre?

    Male and female Goldeneye on Swan Pool (as spotted previously). A few little Grebes as well. Redwing all over the place (seem to make quite a row in the trees, particularly at Hill Top).

    No Shrikes but loads of Stonechats and Chiffchaffs in Sutton Park today. Beautiful weather as well.

    Forge Mill Lake yesterday (29/8) AM: 9+ Pochard, 8+female Goosanders (all located to the north of the slip way), 1 male Teal in the Marsh Pool. Also saw a mallard sized duck, dark brown all over, with a white breast. A type of Mallard?

    What looked like a family of 10+ Mistle Thrushes feeding off worms in the wet, sodden grass in front of the Big Peg in the JQ (around 1730 yesterday). Spooked by a LBBG and flew off. Is this a regular sight? No photos unfortunately.

    Forge Mill 1300-1500 today (9/8). 5+ Little Egrets 3 Common Sandpipers 1 Common Tern Blue flash of a Kingfisher flying across the lake 1 Marsh Tit at the feeders Many Black-headed gulls And a rather ill looking Canadian Goose. Very thin neck compared to the others.
