Gull (white-winged) ID - Cottenham, Cambs., UK

Here's what I have (except for near duplicates). Good point about the primaries - they do indeed seem to be missing. Oh well... Thanks all for the helpful discussion!

Gull (white-winged) ID - Cottenham, Cambs., UK

Great, thanks! I saw it reported on BirdTrack from a few spots around Cottenham earlier (including Long Drove where this is from), but wasn't sure there weren't any Iceland around as well. Don't own a spotting scope (not much use in a running car anyway) so don't usually bother checking the...

Gull (white-winged) ID - Cottenham, Cambs., UK

Hi all, I spotted this white-winged gull in Cottenham yesterday and wonder which it would be. No previous experience with either, would be inclined towards Glaucous rather than Iceland, had it not been very similar in size to the LBB Gulls sitting around it. Any help appreciated. Sorry for...

    Unidentified roadkill (warbler?) - Portugal

Thanks everyone! Warblers, especially the ones from the southern countries, are still well beyond my ID skills :)

    Unidentified roadkill (warbler?) - Portugal

Hi all! Any chance of getting an ID for this road casualty from Portugal? It was found in May near Barragem do Funcho, Algarve (near São Bartolomeu de Messines). Thanks!

    Unidentified warbler - Cambridge, UK

Thanks! Seems my suspicion was correct then. It seems it was another of those days when I didn't get a photo of a Garden warbler :)

    Unidentified warbler - Cambridge, UK

I have seen this warbler back in June and am not 100% sure about ID (Garden warbler vs. female Blackcap) as it immediately disappeared into the canopy. The angle and light are not ideal but hope some more experienced birders might help? Thanks!

Ibis ID help - Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico

Fair point. Yes, it was high up the tree, so I suppose it arrived with the others to roost for the night.

    UK Help please

What about juvenile cuckoo? They are bigger with more massive bill, and I can certainly imagine how they may seem a bit like a blackbird when seen crouching on a branch, if you've only seen the upper parts.

Ibis ID help - Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico

Thanks, Daniel! Good point about the skin colour intensity. It certainly looked just like the other White ibis adults around, in every aspect other than the plumage colour :) Melanism was also a thing that crossed my mind - sounds feasible now. As does the oil, actually, given that oil spills...

Ibis ID help - Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico

Dear all, just joined the forum and thought I might ask for help regarding my old photo of ibis I just stumbled upon and find it a bit puzzling. It is from Villahermosa, Mexico (19 August 2018): There was this all-brown, red-billed, red-faced ibis sitting among the White ibises. I was wondering...
