    Thanks Delia. We were so lucky. We have been talking for years about going up to the Pyrenees to see the Lammergeier but never got round to it. Within an hour of arriving in Pan we had seen it. Charmed!

    Hi Delia, Thank you. I think Rudi has nailed it with Eupodotis rueppelii. I had missed it in my search. The location of that one allows Namibia.

    Thank you everybody. He is a fine specimen isn't he. It was a small flock of about a dozen we came across on a morning drive. The plumage detail is quite special. I wondered at first if there was some diffraction or moir but there isn't. The markings are fine detail in the feathers.
