    Svbony 406P/46P 80mm spotters anyone?

I had a problem earlier this year with the focuser locking up in a certain point (about three times in each turn). I managed to fix it myself since the scope is 2½ years old and hence out of warranty. The Svbony tech support was not very helpful.

    New 100 ED spotting scope

I don't think it takes Swarovski eyepieces. I see no trace of an eyepiece release catch below the eyepiece socket in the images of the Sky Rover scope.

    New 100 ED spotting scope

I use a 25-50x on my ATS 65 (and sometimes a 30x). The DOF/Birdlife scope I looked through does not take Swarovski eyepieces. I don't know if the eyepiece can be removed and replaced.

    New 100 ED spotting scope

Looks a lot like this one sold by DOF/Birdlife Denmark: DOF BirdLife Golden Eagle 35-70x100mm teleskop + DOF BirdLife K3323C stativsæt + DOF BL rensesæt. I have had a look through it (just a few minutes). It was OK at 35x but I was not impressed at 70x. Even on a bright day the view appeared...

Which parts of CR to visit?

Thanks Tico. Someone suggested Carara instead of Manuel Antonio for the same reasons you give. We will get beach time at Isla Chiquita (my wife has fallen in love with the description of that island). Best regards, Niels Kristian

Which parts of CR to visit?

My wife and I have started planning a trip to CR in January or February 2025. Our initial plans include visits to (flying in and out of San José): Corcovado Manual Antonio San Gerardo de Dota (suggested by our travel agent as an alternative to Monteverde) Isla Chiquita (nature and beach time)...

Looking for a good super zoom compact camera

Small, good zoom range, low noise... You can pick any two of those, but not all three. ;) Compact cameras are dying out. The best bet is probably the Panasonic DMC-ZS200, but I have no experience with that model. Otherwise I would choose the latest superzoom model like the Sony DSC-HX99 to get...

What I think would be the perfect birding (rather than bird photography) camera

I don't think there is a market for anything much larger and more expensive than the RX10 IV. I currently use my RX10 IV with Clear Image Zoom (giving me 1200mm eqv. with some quality loss), when I have to document a bird at longer distances. It is not optimal, but it works for me. I have...

What I think would be the perfect birding (rather than bird photography) camera

The chances are just about zero. Such a zoom range on a 1" sensor will be as big and heavy (and expensive) as the Canon with a 100-500mm lens.

Product Review: The Extraordinary Svbony SV202 8 x 42 ED.

I got my SV202 8x42 Yesterday. First impression is an excellent pair of binoculars for the price paid. Same experience of quality vs. price that I have with the Svbony SV406P spotting scope.

    Costa Rica in July?

It seems that most birdwatchers visit Costa Rica in December-April, but I am forced to travel in July due to work. Is that an impossible month for birdwatching? Is there any parts of the country, that I should avoid (or the opposite) during the summer? Regards, Niels Kristian

    Compatible 1.25 “ Eyepieces for the Svbony SA401 - SA405 or the SV406P Spotting Scopes ?

I think it is the eyepiece used on the SV406P in this post: Svbony 406P/46P 80mm spotters anyone?

Best place in Europe for a short birding trip in June?

I think Southern Europe for a different avifauna than the UK. Spain, Portugal or maybe Romania. Another option is Estonia which still have a lot of rural areas, coastal areas and old forests.

    new binocular wishes 2023

I have the Kahles Helia S 10x42. It is exactly like a late-model SLC, which also had the 10.5 ft close focus distance. The focuser is fine in both directions on my pair. I rather like the brown and orange color combination. ;)

    Travel equipment

I travel with 8x32 or 8x25 binoculars, a Sony RX10 IV bridge camera (24-600mm eqv.), and sometimes a small spotting scope (Svbony SV410 9-27x56) on a lightweight travel tripod. The tripod goes in the checked luggage, the rest in cabin luggage. Besides this equipment I take field guides...

New edition of Fågelguiden (Collins Bird Guide).

The use of Loon over Diver might be a result of the Swedish original which refers to Birdlife Sweden's "Västpalearktislistan" (list of WP names). That list uses Loon in its English names, and those English names are included in the index of the Swedish original.

Searching for my first scope, will send karma points to those who helps.

I prefer using a 15mm Celestron #82001 eyepiece giving me about 29x magnification on the SV406p. Still very bright with a 2.8mm exit pupil.
