    Need Help

Hi all? No entries from MI in a year? Well, if anybody is out there listening I'm looking for some information. I live in NW lower MI and am headed to the Grand Rapids and Muskegon areas soon. Wonder if there is any birding info that could help send me in the right direction. I normally...

    From my Manhattan Window

Hi Arthur! Gary here, joined last night. I never thought I would become a birder but combined that with my photography and became hooked. I live in NW lower Michigan which is good for birding but now that I live 'way' out in the country I often need to drive get my fix. I don't know your...

    Magee Marsh / Crane Creek

Hi Steve, I just joined bird forum and found your post about Magee Marsh. I live near Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and am hard on the photo/birding hobby these days so your post is "timely" for me. I'm planning my first trip to Magee Marsh next May so I'll be digging into your notes...

    Birds in Flight for beginners...

Hi Apodidae49 I just joined yesterday and read your post about camera settings just now. I thought I would respond as Birds in Flight pics are the Holy Grail for me. I shoot Canon products and am not familiar with Nikon. That said you have made a great choice with Nikon so you are on your...

    Ring-billed Gull

This gull is the first "Bird in Flight" photo I ever shot. Funny that the quality isn't really up to par, but I like the way the sun backlights the picture and plays through the feathers turning the photo to black and white. Yep! This is my "Gateway" bird, the one that...

Marc, very very nice. Two things popped out at me; Bird in flight photos are the "Holy Grail" in my book, and I like the action shown in most of the body but lessoning toward the head. Ok, three things. I have found the American Kestrel to be very difficult to catch in flight...
  9. Dunlin

    Dunlin

This bird was seen at Glenn Haven, Michigan, a goest town in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The Dunlin is a fairly common shorebird around the world but I was excited at my first seeing them at age 64. Funny how I missed so much when my eyes were closed.
  10. Black-bellied Plover

    Black-bellied Plover

Saw this Black-bellied Plover at Platte Point near Honor MI, a popular stopover point for migrating shore birds. Largest Plover in North America.

Thank you. After several days of trying I was in the right place at the right time, and ready.

    Bald Eagle

This shot was taken from a bluff along the shore of Lake Michigan in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, a federal park. This is the only time I have been above these magestic birds.

Hello everyone. I just found this site and joined today. My name is Gary, I live in Michigan, USA. It will be nice I think to talk to birders in other parts of the world. I started birding just three years ago but it has become my focuse very quickly mostly because I have combined my...
