I hadn’t thought American Redstart, but, after further analysis, I think I agree. Thanks!

    ATX and novagrade double gripper

I use it and it works fine. But positioning of the adapter on the eyepiece is a bit tricky.

Tripod for very tall man with ATX 95

I’m 6’3” and use a Gitzo GT3542L for my ATX95. It works well for my height. Most of the time I only need to extend the center column a few inches, so there’s more extension available.

Head for swarovski ATX 85 scope

I use a 2720QR for my ATX95 and it works well. I use a 1720QR for an ATM80 scope, and that works great, but it’s a lighter scope.

    UVHD+ coating change between 2015 and 2019?

Wouldn’t the steep drop off lead to higher contrast? I find the contrast on my Swaro 8.5x42s (pre Field Pro) stunning at times. When observing wolves in Yellowstone at dawn/dusk, the contrast between a gray/black wolf and the dark background is astounding, and I often ask myself - how do they do...

The straps are called Rip-Tie minis. I believe I got them at B&H Photo.

Carrying Straps and Other Accessories - a Rant

I find that these Velcro cable straps work well on my pre-FP SV.

Simon King green Victory 8x32 T*FL

I believe the reference is to this recent video review on YouTube. It mentions potential replacements to the FL 32mm several times. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8S9UnpF4Oj8&feature=share

question about backpack for Swaro **X spotting scopes

I have a Lowepro 350 AW which fits my ATX 95 (disassembled), plus binoculars, plus DSLR with telephoto lens. All in a well-padded package that is easily carried on in an airplane. Unfortunately, Lowepro doesn’t seem to make that specific model any more...

    Which Sparrow?

Thanks folks; Pine Siskin it is. There is a faint trace of yellow on the wing which should have led me in that direction, but I was stuck on the Sparrow path...

    Which Sparrow?

On feeder in Boulder, Colorado. Always come together, so seem to be a pair. I believe they’re Sparrows, but can’t figure out what kind.

Comparing Zeiss and Swarovski 32 /30 models

Last year I supplemented my aging Leica Trinovid 8x32 BNs with the Zeiss FL 8x32s. While I still appreciate the BNs and continue to use them often, I find the FL 8x32s to be a superb upgrade. They are noticeably sharper and have better contrast than the BNs, and the ergonomics, particularly the...

    Victory n x 32 SF

That's a great story; I'm a huge fan of Sir David Attenborough. If I may ask - how did you end up with those binoculars?

    Zeiss 7x42 T*P* - Rainguard/Objective Cap Recommendation

Attaching rain guard to strap Here's another option for attaching a rain guard to the binocular (Zeiss Victory 8x32 FL in this case). I live in Colorado, so most of time I like to remove the rain guard and leave it in the car. The snap hook and swivel are from Paracord, the tether is from Vitec...

    Gitzo GH1720 long-term reliability

I've used one on a Manfrotto 055 for my Swarovski ATM 80HD for about a year now and am very happy with it. The head movement is still smooth and I really like the single point of control.

    Which Flycatcher

Seen yesterday in North Scottsdale, Arizona, in the crown of a Palo Verde tree, surrounded by a Mesquite tree grove. Is it an Ash-throated or a Brown-crested Flycatcher?

Please help with this bird call - Boulder, Colorado

I think you're right - Blue Jay. I followed a much louder version of the call to a big Maple tree and confirmed a Blue Jay. Thanks!

Please help with this bird call - Boulder, Colorado

In spite of staring at the tree where the call is emanating, I've never been able to spot the bird. And several times, as I've approached the call, the bird stops. So I'm hypothesizing that it's small and shy. We have Blue Jays in the area, and they're loud and visible. I haven't seen Stellar's...

Please help with this bird call - Boulder, Colorado

This call has been confounding me for a while. Small, shy bird that frequents Cottonwoods and Aspen.

experience with stay on case with Swaro ATS 80?

Case for Swarovski ATM 80 When traveling or in extremely adverse conditions I use a nicely fitted and padded zip-on case from Creedmor Sports that is well worth the price - about $35.
