Olive-backed Pipit at Phear Park, Exmouth 15th December 2022

I agree with Paul, a most obliging bird and well worth a visit. Fairly local for me and it was like watching a new bird. Only 42 years since I saw my last one on Tresco !!! Excellent set of pics Paul.
  2. Devonian Birder

    Satellite tagged/ringed Black Kite.

The escaped Black Kite seen in Cornwall during October did indeed have a blue transmitter and anklets/rings on both legs. A bit too much of a coincidence me thinks.

    Lesvos Bird News 2022

Most years I spend two weeks in September in Pelion and this year visited Lake Karla for the first time. It was very interesting to compare notes with Lesvos sightings as you are not too far away as the migrant bird flies. Excellent news page which I will continue to read regularly in the future.
  4. Devonian Birder

    Satellite tagged/ringed Black Kite.

Thanks for checking Richard. The Black Kite has now been confirmed as an escape from Wild Zoological Park near Dudley in the West Midlands. He answers to the name of "Geb" or at least he did until August 1st when he went missing !!!
  5. Devonian Birder

    Satellite tagged/ringed Black Kite.

Photographs taken of the adult Black Kite in Cornwall yesterday show a transmitter and what appear to be rings on both legs. Does anyone have any information about the possible provenance of this bird and thus any ringing schemes it might be part of ? I am aware of migration monitoring schemes...

Himalaya's post (No13) says it all for me. It might be new and fresh but it does not do the job I want it to do, simple as that. I am all for change ....... so change it back !
