Comment by 'Matthius' in media 'Sparrowhawk'

I took the photo through a closed patio window which was thankfully clean and clear enough and didn’t get any reflections at the angle I got and with a good zoom of the Nikon P1000 to pull it in closer. And I always keep the camera nearby just in case specifically for the sparrowhawk as most...

This female Sparrowhawk that regularly visits my garden to prey on House Sparrows flew extremely close by my window and after catching nothing this time landed on the fence long enough for me to grab my camera.

Yeah 1x male red crested pochard, it was near the working overflow bridge then it moved near the yellow buoy. I'd left and came back a bit later and then it was in the same area but by the blue buoy it dived once and followed the group of goldeneye a bit and then headed towards the island. It...

Chiffchaff? I think this is a chiffchaff. Had it in our garden in Handsworth this afternoon from around 13:40 and it kept coming back in the flower boxes and hanging baskets right next to the window (sorry for reflections in the photo). Matt Fletcher https://twitter.com/birderpoet

Very nice photo of one of my top favourite birds. I haven't managed to get good photos of any goldcrests yet as they flit about. I saw one today and just enjoyed watching it but very nice to see one captured on camera.

Thanks, and though I do love seeing every bird, the Water Rails are a treat to see as they can be very elusive but when they are visible they can sometimes hang about in view for a long time once they are there. Having a camera on you in the moment is always a relief and I have to give the...

Wonderful photo, nicely showing the colour and detail and perfected by the nice perch. It's like it is modelling ready to have a little ornament made based on it :)
