Brief comparison berween MHG VS EDG '8X42'

jackjack has indeed presented a fine comparison and I thank him very much. I also own a pair of HG 10x42s that I really like. However I prefer the EDGs. Especially the build quality. The focus wheel and eyecups are very nice. I get some blackouts when panning with HGs because the eyecups are a...

Brief comparison berween MHG VS EDG '8X42'

I have a pair of EDG 8x32s and love them for the immersive view and the best bino for panning I’ve ever owned.

    New binos by mid June.

The blackouts are from the short eyecups which are prevalent in smaller format binos and even mid sizes. The band of my existence in binos lol

    New binos by mid June.

Last time I’ll post but the HG 8x30 gives you the best of both world. Amazing optics and super lightweight and compact. However if your daughter likes the diamondbacks they’re a great starter bino and no big deal if they are lost or stolen. I’m sure she’ll have an awesome time regardless of what...

    New binos by mid June.

If lighting is a consideration then a B3 6x30 could be a good choice. Will be as bright as a 8x42 and since there won’t be long range viewing 6X will be fine. I actually think an 8x30 would be fine for brightness and more versatile after her trip.

    New binos by mid June.

If her prof is suggesting a smaller bino then the HG 8x30 would be a great choice. I also have a pair of Maven B3s that I really like. Good compromise between a compact and mid size. Both weigh about 16oz. BTW I compared my B3s to CLs a little while ago. The salesman there preferred the B3s as...

    New binos by mid June.

Another vote for the HGs. Amazing optics for the price, light and an immersive view because of the wide fov. What wonderful experience for your daughter!

Or in Chuck’s case, ninety two 😂

Great advice Chuck. The only thing better than an awesome bino is two!

Change to Zeiss SFL 10x40 or stick with my Leicas

Your comment about them being heavy is telling. The SFLs will definately help with that. I really like lighter binos myself. I’d buy a pair from a dealer that has a good return policy and compare them. I bought a pair from CampSaver at 25% off. They weren’t exactly what I wanted so returned no...

Zeiss Conquest HD 8×32 VS Leica Trinovid 8×32 HD?

Not sure what you mean by spoken like a true 10x user. I use both but an 8x that has a fov nearly as narrow as a 10x isn’t what I want. I like the immersive view an 8x with a wide fov gives. That’s why I have 8x with a wide fov.

Zeiss Conquest HD 8×32 VS Leica Trinovid 8×32 HD?

Yes we all do see things differently and in the end all that matters is we buy what we prefer. Fun to compare and exchange our preferences though.

Zeiss Conquest HD 8×32 VS Leica Trinovid 8×32 HD?

Also as noted before the Trinovid HD 8x32 has a much more narrow fov than the Conquest. 372’ vs 420’. Kind of defeats the purpose of having a 8x glass.

Zeiss Conquest HD 8×32 VS Leica Trinovid 8×32 HD?

Compare, compare, compare. Not a big fan of the new Trinovids after comparing side by side to Conquests and HGs but to each their own. If you can get your hands on a pair of the previous generation Trinovids they are a superb glass. They also cost a lot more than the new Trinovids and there’s a...

Zeiss Conquest...eye cups still an issue?

The eyecups on Conquests are great. The take a Little extra effort to move but will Never slip down like so many others including Alphas. Zeiss provides free ones that are a little taller than the stock ones and eliminates blackouts for people like me who bury the eyecups into their eye sockets...

Best 8x Bino’s for the money

There’s also a new pair of Conquest 8x42s on Rokslide now for $700. Zeiss is also running a $200 off special now so they can be had from a dealer for $799!

Best 8x Bino’s for the money

The HG market is incredibly soft now. I just sold a pair of 8x30s for $550 and it took awhile to just get that! They’re a bargain at full price. I love my 42s but the eyecups on the 30s were too short and I got blackouts. A real shame as the optics were awesome. Most people won’t have that...

    New Binocular Bargains Thread

I’ve had several friends buy through Greentoe without problems. The people who are apt to rate these services are the ones who had problems so usually these ratings are not indicative of the actual percentages of bad results. All anyone has to do is use a service like PayPal to protect...

Leica, Zeiss & Swarovski binoculars compared: A personal report

Because nothing works with Swaros! Plus if I don’t bury them then outside light comes in and it gets much worse!

Leica, Zeiss & Swarovski binoculars compared: A personal report

Interesting comment on eye placement and glare with Swaro’s. I bury eyecups into my eye sockets and Swaros have been amongst the worst for glare of all glasses I have used or examined. I’ve always been amazed at how poorly they handle glare given their price point. Otherwise the optics have been...

    Maven diopter?

Maven has excellent service. All their binos have a lifetime warranty and you don’t have to be the original owner. They really stand behind their optics.

    Asking for help: Meopta Meostar B1 10 X 42 vs Opticron Aurora BGA VHD 10 x 42

If weight is a concern I would go with a 8x30-32 format instead of 8x42. The only thing you’ll give up is a little low light performance but the weight and size difference will be substantial. Lots of good options as well.

    SFL vs. Aurora...

Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences with different brands and models. At the end of the day as long as we get what we are personally looking for that’s all that matters.
