"He who pays the piper, calls the tune"

Well yes, if the grants are for specific purposes then it'd already be considered restricted income in the accounts. However can you honestly say that you don't think the reasons for changing the treatment need to be questioned? There must be a reason to change it and in a democracy we deserve...

Great Northern Diver at Salford Quays

Great Northern Diver has been at Salford Quays since mid-December. Went to see it on my lunch today and despite the rough water caught it diving a few times on the Central bay.

    Brilliant Estonian webcams

Unfortunately it appears that this bird has injured its left foot. I couldn't get a screenshot but it was hopping on it's nest with it in almost a half closed position.

Join in the world's largest wildlife survey (RSPB)

The weather in Lancs is absolutely shocking today, it's extremely windy so unsurprisingly our plans have had to change. Fingers crossed it'll be better tomorrow.

Where do you think Winterwatch will come from?

I totally see what you mean now after your explanation earlier in the week. I also noticed the "it's being thought about" and after learning about Wildcat Haven, if they were going to mention it, it would have been at that point. I am a little disappointed; I thought this programme was...

    Garden/Yard List 2016

Hi I am really new to birding as a hobby so not yet, previously my interest has been seeing the birds in the garden and learning about those. It is definitely something I am now considering having read all of the posts in the thread as it will add another dimension to my interest.

Ahh right ok, thanks for the response!

    Garden/Yard List 2016

We are lucky where we are in Lancashire; wood pigeons are a regular visitor and we actually have a Mistle Thrush that nests on a security light on the house. Unfortunately the Sparrow Hawks got to either the adult or the fledgling not long after.

    Be like a birder

I'm new to this; why is people using cameras an irritation?

Where do you think Winterwatch will come from?

Oh right ok, so Wildcat Haven are actually offering a solution to the exact issues that Winterwatch was raising. So you're absolutely right, it is strange that they're leaving that out. Perhaps the feature is ongoing and that will be brought in at a later date? We'll wait and see.

Where do you think Winterwatch will come from?

What do you consider a sensible view? I am curious as I thought the wildcat section was one of the more interesting features on tonight's show.

    Northern Hawk Owl Killed...

Oh absolutely not, there has been a total breakdown of communication here and to think that killing the bird is a rational and appropriate response is outrageous.

    Northern Hawk Owl Killed...

I disagree I'm afraid - if I asked someone to stop taking photographs of something on my property then regardless of 'ownership' I'd expect that request to be respected.

    Northern Hawk Owl Killed...

If birders are ignoring requests from the property owners then there is some blame to be laid at their door. However, the bird should not have to pay the price for the lack of a willingness to communicate.

Not much chance of any more either if the balmy 14 degrees that it was in Manchester yesterday holds up.

Migrant Geese around Rainford, St Helens area

Hi This is my first post in the BirdForum. I am new to Birding and want to step up my interest in the hobby, so I guess the first step up is to properly find out what is around me locally. Each year we get huge numbers of migrating Geese around the Rainford area, they are quite a sight when...
