Trying to understand if the view is washed out because of glare or just washed out period. If I look toward the sunset with mine, I see a little bit of glare, but nothing dramatic, I’ve never seen anything through my pair of 12X42 like the mess you’re describing under any circumstance. I also... -

In my mind they don’t need to do that, but the general opinion seems to be that they are either equal to, or nearly equal to the top alpha models, or at least that’s what I think I’m reading. -

I just did a little viewing in some really good conditions with my NL12X42, if the Chinese have figured out how to duplicate that view for under $1000 with the Sky Rover Banner Cloud 12X50, they’ve pulled off quite a miraculous feat. -

I think it was usually toward the bottom, I’m sure winged eyecups would have put a stop to it, but they wouldn’t have worked with my glasses. -

I had a pair of 10 x 42 SF, I was always bothered by the little bright Ruby red spot I could see anytime the sun was hitting the oculars from behind, they definitely had a superb view, they were very bright, but I prefer the EL/NL contrast and color. A fellow member came to my house last fall... -

I assume resolution is simply the ability to see fine details, like text or test charts, transparency would seem to have mostly to do with light transmission, contrast, and color rendition, I’m not exactly sure about a lot of the more technical things, I just know what my eyes like, probably the... -

Basically, from what I’ve read in multiple reviews, it seems the general consensus is that the optics in these are at least fully the equal of the EL and NL, not almost, but fully, is that correct ? -

I find it hard to believe some of what I’ve read about these, but after seeing what Holger Merlitz had to say I’ll keep an open mind, I’d also like to hear more detail from Dennis after seeing a pair firsthand. -
NL >=50 mm versions?
I will say though, I was disappointed in the 10X50 SV in comparison to my 10X42 SV, that was back in probably 2015 or 2016, overall I preferred the image of the 42, theoretically that shouldn’t have been the case, I thought they looked more dull, and they definitely had a lot more CA on the... -

12x42 NL Pure.....
It’s kind of hard, for me anyway, to put it into words, I’d say if you can find a place that has a pair you can step outside with would be best. The Roger Vine review probably hits it on the head pretty well, to me they just have a certain glow, a certain brilliance about them that I don’t... -

Seems like any top tier 12 power binocular should have a good quality built-in tripod/monopod adapter installed at the factory, a lot of the used 12X42 NL have them installed, I’d say that’s pretty telling.
