    @ post #1: You might have already tried this, but perhaps you could fold the neckstrap once or twice and lay it across the eyepieces, to be held in place with the case lid latch. Having your EP rain guard in place would be essential.

    I have the original version CL 30 with no hint of armor deterioration. I've crossed paths with a few older SLCs: no hint of rubber problems.

    With no firsthand knowledge, I've heard of Nye Fluorocarbon Gel Damping Grease being used with success.

    My guess is prism staining due to prolonged moisture intrusion, though it may well be something different. In photo #1, I see what I believe to be a prism chip at the 10 o'clock position.

    There are no sure signs either way. The shipment came from New Jersey. The paperwork is written in English but the folder in which it came is printed in German.

    FWIW Just today I received back my 7x42 UVHD. Turn around time was about seven weeks. The focuser now works to my satisfaction.

    While some 8x32s are almost as big as their 8x42 cousins, a few are fairly small: Zeiss FL and and Leica UVHD come to mind.

    An 8x32 shows good detail in cloud structures and sunsets.

    I'm leaning toward fungus. There's a good chance either condition will worsen over age, so another vote for returning. BTW: some manufacturers will not work on binoculars with fungus.

    Well the fuzziness I am seeing in my FL 8x32s turned out to be cataracts, a recent eye exam revealed. I'm wondering if any BF members are in the same boat. If anyone who has had the surgery wants to share their experience, it would be welcome. PM me if you'd rather. Thanks. ~ Foss

    Can't speak for others, but I would be concerned about long-term heat exposure (and theft). A good no questions asked warranty is worth consideration.
