Fledgling Red-eyed Vireo? Regina, Canada 23 Aug 2014

I would have said Warbling, Warbling, two Red-eyed, even before I saw your statement that the adult Red-eyed was feeding the other one. Those two look too much alike (big bill, strong eye-line).

    Agree, not scaup, Ringnecks.

    Gull in California

That beady pale eye is so Herring. I have a hard time imagining a 2nd cycle Western with that eye (also the other features that have been mentioned including bill shape and pale primary panel point to AHG).

Nashville Warbler? Canmore, Alberta 26 Aug 2014

Review by 'ChrisHill' on item '50-500mm f4-6 APO EX'

I've used it and am happy with the results *mostly.* However, I never get the kind of tack-sharp photos I see elsewhere, even under what seem like perfect conditions. I'm using it on a Canon 60D body. I did a focus test and found that it consistently seemed to be focussing just a little...

Review by 'ChrisHill' on item '7x35E Binocular'

Brilliant binocs - my birding binocs for decades and I was always happy with them, never tempted by newer more expensive roof prisms. For one thing, I like the feel of the porro prisms, always have. Unfortunately, just this spring my pair got flooded by water. Nikon replaced them with top of...

    South Carolinians?

Hi, I'm new to Bird Forum, noticed one other South Carolinian I know on the list, but I see there are no new "patch" posts for the last year. Anybody out there? Is BirdForum mostly used by Brits? ObBird: saw a Red Crossbill at the Walhalla, SC fish hatchery two weeks ago. Chris Hill...

    What binoculars do you use?

Nikon Superior E 7x32 Well, that's what I used for most of the last two decades, but lost them to water damage (though Nikon replaced them for free with a newer pair of roof prisms). Chris Hill Conway, SC
