    Canon RF 200-800mm IS USM

Thanks for the insight Shane. I may well add the teleconverter just to have the option.

    Canon RF 200-800mm IS USM

How do you like the TC1.4 on the limited zoom range of the 100-500? I have 100-500 and R7 and have thought about the 1.4x but not sure since it only work from 300-500 on the lens. Do you find the view too "zoomed in" at times?

Canon R1 Rumours on new R1

I like the idea of the R1. I used a 1D body (1D II, 1DS II then went to the 5D series then to Nikon and now back to Canon) and still love it's ergonomics in both landscape and portrait mode. But I prefer smaller and lighter. With My R6 II I haven't added the battery grip. Also, if thr R1...

    Do you think there'll be a R7 MK2

I recently bought the R7 and am very impressed with it. I think Canon's more likely priorities are releasing the R1 and perhaps updating the R5 to Mark II to compete with the Z8 and catch up to the R6 II. If you can put the R7 to use now, why not go for it?

Zeiss lover gets wooed by the Leica "enhanced reality" look

I grew up with film cameras and started off with Nikon. Eventually was able to shoot with Leica R and M systems. I think the appeal of Leica lenses was not only the color balance but also the incredible bokeh. I’ve never seen anyone in any binocular discussion use the term bokeh for out of focus...

Eastern Hokkaido - Driving February 2019

Hi, We plan on visiting Sapporo and then traveling by train to Kushiro. We are staying at a ryokan near Lake Akan. The big question is, what are the road conditions in the Kushiro to Akan area? We would take a bus if we go to other cities/towns but we would like our own transportation so we have...

    Zeiss USA service report

For some reason my 8x42 Victory HT, which were fine, all of a sudden suffered from collimation error. I sent them to Zeiss USA and they were serviced and sent back in a timely manner. There was also good tracking of the product from receipt at their service center to notification of the return...

    8.5x42?

The 8.5x42 EL Swarovision pre- FieldPro was in the market for a long time and there are definitely good second-hand deals to be found. I have a Leica Ultravid HD Plus 10x50 that I love, as well as a small Minox APO HG 10x43. Depending on the distances I expect to need to cover, I will bring...

    Which model is more advanced?

It seems to me there is a noticeable difference in the potential use cases for the 12x50 EL vs the 15x56 SLC. Size and magnification to start. What are you hoping to view? Do you need the larger aperture to allow for more light or do you want something manageable in size? As earlier posters...

Best place to buy a Canon Lens

This forum is a good place to start. As Dave mentioned, many enthusiasts care for their gear and sell them in excellent condition or better. Of course, you won't get factory warranty but a reputable seller and prior photo documentation of the lens you are buying can help mitigate your concerns...

    Binoculars

Definitely try out the x32 and x42 sizes. I find x32 binoculars to be too light and small for me to enjoy. I don't keep them as steady and given that I wear glasses most of the time, have not been impressed with the eye relief. 7x or 8x are great for all around use, good magnification and...

    which camera should i get

Congrats on your purchase. I have been considering the Sigma 150-600 lens, as well as the Tamron variant. Hope it tracks well and is a sharp lens for you.

experience with stay on case with Swaro ATS 80?

I have a Cabela's stay on case for my STS 80HD. I actually prefer it without the case but if you want a streamlined setup where you think you will put the scope directly (and with care) into a bag or case that won't get jostled and tossed about too much then it is a decent solution. If you...

    Buying a scope?

I own the ATX95 scope and also the digiscoping adapter. I went "big". And it is big and everything together requires a dedicated case (tripod, head, scope and adapter). It doesn't get used as much as I anticipated. I do recommend a scope but think about your likely use case and get the size that...

Costa Rica, places to visit and guides

We visited Costa Rica in June of 2015 and had a fabulous trip. We hope to go back soon. While we only covered a small portion of the country, we were impressed with Tortuguero NP. If you find a quality guide/boat, you will see some incredible wildlife, from birds to mammals (monkeys, sloths...
