    It Was Dead

The poor moth was dead when I found it, I realized I was too late to save its life. It was a Sphinx Moth. The pink on it looked like it was still bright, kinda. https://www.google.com/search?q=sphinx+moth&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=-o64UtLzDo3boASQhIDQCg&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAQ&biw=1688&bih=828...

    Ruby-throated hummingbird

In my birding adventures I have seen a couple of ruby-throated hummingbirds flitting from our garden plants. I don't have a feeder to feed them though. They appeared in the spring/summer months. They are tiny, and very quick so if you are not speedy you might miss seeing one! Just wanted to...

    Red-Tailed Hawk

I saw a red-tailed hawk yesterday flying over my house. It attacked a nest of common ravens, and it was chased by them over some power lines and over a hill. This is only the second time I've seen a red-tailed hawk. The first one I saw was a few months ago and it was flying over another set of...

    How do you mount insects?

There is where you and I agree to disagree. I see nothing morally wrong with mounting insects. I mean, I was a Pokemon master since I was 9 and even if it was just a video game I collected animals and taught them how to fight each other in competitions and win. Insect collecting is no different...

Doesn't anyone on here use field guides?

I mean that is what I have and use. Unfortunately all the field guides I own are for North America only. I need to buy some for other countries. https://www.google.com/search?q=field+guide&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=C9a3UsHnDYTjoATw_4HYBg&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAQ&biw=1688&bih=828

    Bird Guide Books

I find that identification is easier than actually going out and looking at the birds themselves. 9.9 But since all the field guides I have are for North America only, I can't help you.

    Hummingbirds

They are tiny and they move quickly. This past summer we had a few of them drink nectar from our flowers, I think I saw a ruby-throated hummingbird.

    Stinkbug

I know what a stinkbug is, I used my field guides to help me identify the last one I saw out in my garden. It is a small, green bug that is in the shape of a triangle.

I own a few field guides

I own a few field guides. I got them at Barnes and Noble booksellers and I basically bought them for study purposes. They have taught me a lot about birds when I was reading them.

American Robins are all around my home

Outside of my house birds come to rest on the power lines all the time, and they are always looking for food. And I have identified at least five differernt species: American Robin American Crow Common Raven Blue Jay Red-Tailed Hawk I think that the Blue Jay is the prettiest, though.
