    Trossachs

Thankyou, I have two very bad / faint recordings but will return and (if the bird is still present) try for better. I see nightjar reported up to 2014 in Loch Ard forest but nothing after and do not know whether this is because people stopped looking / reporting or the birds were no longer...

    Trossachs

To add to this thread there was a nightjar singing close to cobleland on Saturday (9pm 18th May) eve. I'm new to the area and wonder how regularly they are reported / observed here.

    Common sandpiper song - Perthshire - 02/05/2024

I would like confirmation that this is a common sandpipers song. I could hear but not see it moving back and forth along the steep banks of a river at dusk. Thanks

    Beaver activity Stirlingshire

I have captured a beaver on trail cameras close to this location and therefore assume the images are further evidence of their presence in the area? If so, can anyone provide an explanation for the 'smoothness' of the tree base? It seems as though an individual has been grinding teeth? Thanks

Ravens rolling around on the ground.

I was out in the snow the other day and observed a raven rolling around on the ground with its legs in the air. At first I thought I'd come across bird flu. I think it was actually rolling on something (possible sheep fleece or dead rabbit), sort of like how a dog might do if it came across a...

I've been going through old photos and have found some unidentified birds. This looks like a giant hummingbird? Thanks

    Mallard / Gadwall / Garganey? Anglesey, 2023-01-02.

Interesting, both new species to me. I should have noted the obvious mallard size and structure. A well thought through theory. Most of the 'odd' mallard types I find go down as domestic crosses, but this one got me.

    Mallard / Gadwall / Garganey? Anglesey, 2023-01-02.

I can see: Orange legs A white panel A light face pattern Dark tail feathers Buff white throat Pale loral stripe An uneven brown / orange bill My guess is mallard x domestic or mallard x gadwall? I wonder if there may be Garganey in there too? Thanks.

    swimming Muntjac Norfolk

The audio on the video appears to say it was chased by a dog. The Muntjac made it to shore but probably had a few more obstacles to over come:
