Harpia 95: A Review on a Scottish Island

Hi Lee. You're right, I ment slack or free play. It could very well be a faulty unit when we all noticed the slack. But as I also said, we could all agree that we felt the Harpia was sharper than the Swarovski/Leica/Kowa we also tried at the same time. So no doubt the Harpia is a fantastic...

    Review of Meopta S2 82HD / 20-70x

Thanks Lee, I will. And thank you for all your good advices and the very good review of the Meopta which drove me in that direction, a shame for me it didn't end with the Meopta at last. Have a nice weekend. Tommy

    Review of Meopta S2 82HD / 20-70x

Thursday I sent the Meopta back to the supplier, the 30-60x WA was delayed to be delivered at 01-02-2019. But yesterday I found a Black Friday offer for the Swarovski ATX 30-70x95, only € 3000 so I couldn't resist buying it. I will get the eyecups specially made for glass wearers to get more...

Harpia 95: A Review on a Scottish Island

Hi Lee. I think I used the word slope wrongB (:. But you're right they didn't like the slow focuser mostly because they couldn't see any difference in the scope for the first 2-3 mm they moved the focuser.

Harpia 95: A Review on a Scottish Island

I tried the Harpia a month ago with some friends and we all could agree that there was to much slope in the focus wheel. The supplier told us is was fine tuning when we felt the slope but none of us could see any difference in focus when we were in "slope" mode. It ended up with to of my friends...

    Review of Meopta S2 82HD / 20-70x

I have had the same thought but my glasses is not to be exchanged in a while. But I could buy an extra pair with a model where it allows the lenses to be closer to the eyes and just wear it when birding|;| I tried to lift the eyecup but it just made it worse. I have ordered the 30-60x WA from...

    Review of Meopta S2 82HD / 20-70x

Yeah, I'm sorry too. I have the same problem with binoculars, what is ok for others with glasses can still a problem for me. The odd for me is that I don't have the same problem with Swarovski 30-70x95, i can't remember if is was with the eye cups for spectacles wearer. I have thought of...

    Review of Meopta S2 82HD / 20-70x

I to have had the pleasure of the Meopta S2 with the 20-70x but unfortunately I have to return it. The eye relief is just to short for me (I'm a glass wearer), I have to be very carefull when placing the eye and it darkens when I zoom between 50-70x. But it is an amazing scope and just as...

    New scope from Zeiss...

Although I didn't spend much time with, others were waiting, I did spend enough time trying to get a perfect focus and no matter what, it just didn't happen. I even tried a Opticron HR at the nearby tent and it was better. That's why I'm sure it must have been a bad unit, even though the...

    New scope from Zeiss...

It was outside and in good condition, at about 50 meters. Tried Swarovski at the same time and it was pin sharp. So it must have been a bad unit.

    New scope from Zeiss...

Tried the new Harpia shortly at Falsterbo Bird Show and I wasn't impressed. I was not able to get a sharp or nearly sharp focus at highest magnificaton, no matter how hard I tried. Hope it was a faulty unit.

    Tract Toric 8x42 Experience

The Petrel doesn't have ED glass that I would think mean a lot. I have tried the Petrel some time ago and they had both much CA and looking at leaves they had a glow around them which disturbed the image, you don't have that issue with the Tract.

    Tract Toric 8x42 Experience

I can say I'm very sensitive to CA and I only see a little CA close to the edge and that doesn't disturb my view. I saw much more CA in the Conquest HD and not so much more in the Monarch HG.

    Tract Toric 8x42 Experience

I just started a chat with Jon LaCorte on their website and got an price on delivery. I accepted and then Jon helped me through the process and I got the binoculars two days after. Highly recommended.

    Tract Toric 8x42 Experience

No need for a case. I just put in my backpack together with my camera equipment and the rest of the time I carry it around my neck. With rainguard and objective covers it is enough protected while in backpack.

    Tract Toric 8x42 Experience

I’ve bought the Tract Toric 8x42 a week ago and must say they impress me. I have just been on the Falsterbo Bird Show and tried a lot of binoculars with only a few to impress me, all much more expensive than the Toric. I was a little apprehensive ordering from USA living in Denmark but I took...

    Nikon Monarch HG

I recently at Falsterbo Bird Show tried both Monarch HG 8x42, Conquest HD 8x42 and Vortex Razor 8x42 and and to me there were a lot more CA in the HG and Conquest than in Razor. The only binocular that gave me a WOW experience was the Razor. But I'm CA sensitive and wear glassses.

    Kamakura bins in the UK

I was at a shop recently and tried the Kamakura EDL4 and thought they looked al lot like the Viking ED Pro. Decide for your self on the pictures attached. I have seen on the specs and there is a difference in weight. You can find some of their products at http://kamakura.se/produkter.php

Does budget drive choice or the other way round

I too have a Hawke Frontier ED 8x43. Today I was at a shop and tried a Kamakura EDL4 8 and 10x42, Zeiss FL 8x42, Leica Ultravid 8x42, Zeiss Conquest hd 8x42, Swarovski EL 8x32, Swarovski EL 8.5x42 and a Swarovski EL 10x50. To me it was only with the 3 Swarovski I felt a noticeable improvement in...

Is €1350 a good price for a brand new Nikon EDG 8x42 DCF

Thank for your answers. As it turns out the price has raised to €1799 today for the Nikon so I either wait for it to drop again or go for one of the others. But I have also just found out that there will be a Bird Festival in Sweden in a couple of weeks and I will go to that event to look at all...

Is €1350 a good price for a brand new Nikon EDG 8x42 DCF

Hi. I have been searching for a binocular for more than 6 month now and been through all the mid binoculars without finding a binocular that suits me. I have therefore raised the amount i will buy a binocular for and in that search I yesterday found a Nikon EDG 8x42 DCF at a big retailer for...

    Nikon Monarch HG

The MSRP on Nikon, UK is £799 for 8x42 and £839 for 10x42, so it should be possible to get them cheaper when they get released.

    Sightron "Blue Sky" II 8x32

To be fair this was not what I saw looking through my Sightron, I'm impressed. So think mine had to be a lemon. Even though I will not try my luck with another sample.
