    Hoping to visit the Lakes tomorrow with family in tow - where's best to see the Ospreys fishing? I spent some time there earlier in the year and they were around the nest site but weren't fishing -they flew over the hills to the south for ages. Any advice on where/when to see them fishing...

    You'll end up with a shed load of midges (and moths) in your trap. SWMBO left the landing light on with the window open the other night and the ceiling was black with midges.

    He saw it in Dumfries and Galloway and is an experienced observer, he had a good view of it. I guess it could have been weed/nesting material but I think he'd know the difference.

    Sparrowhawk aren't massive scavengers so its likely it made the kill.

    does any BOP take adult mink? that you know of?

    A friend recently saw an osprey carrying what he thought was a small black cat - I thought it more likely that it was a mink caught as it crossed a body of water.
