    Dorset birding

    There was a very confiding juvenile Purple Sandpiper at Hengistbury Head this morning. I was sitting on one of the large rocks and it suddenly appeared and wandered around about 2 feet away from me, it then had a preen and carried on its way.

    Hello, Apologies for the awful photograph, but anyone got any ideas what this is? Originally I thought it was a slightly odd Linnet, but I don't think it is? I didn't have my binoculars with me, so had to take a photo and then crop it heavily to see anything, as the bird was a little way off...

    Great, thank you, of course. A curlew sand wouldn't be so small compared to the turnstones.

    Hello, Is this little fella a Curlew Sand? He was with a flock of turnstones on the beach at Marazion, and was stupidly tame. He was quite a bit smaller than the turnstones.

    Happened to be driving over the Avon Causeway - large flock of black-tailed godwits, plenty of Lapwings and Little Egrets, and a Hobby over.
