    waxwings

    At 3.30p.m. today there were 14 waxwings sitting on the TV aerial of 35 Barn Owl Walk, off Stamford Road, Stourbridge. I first saw them at 2.45 p.m. They flew off into nearby trees but had returned by the time I got back with my binoculars. This is a first for me.

    Brambling?

    I am a bit of a novice, but am pretty sure I heard and saw a brambling on my walk along the canal near Dudley, West Midlands, today. I don't think bramblings are supposed to still be here in May, but the call and outline (I couldn't discern the colours against the sky) were very brambling like...
