    Just thinking about some Bins.

I wasn't sure which section to put this in as I am not thinking of any brand in particular, mods please move if appropriate. Anyway I am thinking about getting some low to mid priced bins. Currently I have a set of Swarowski 8.5 x 42 EL bins which I am very happy with but I am looking for...

    Proper tripods - cheap!

Just a personal opinion. I have never understood why people buy top quality scopes and mount them on crappy tripods. A while back I was down at Goldcliffe and there were a bunch of birders there with some VERY nice glass! Yet none of them had a tripod that I would put a point and shoot camera...

    Cheap Gitzo tripods

Now that I have bought my new tripod I thought that others might like to know of the current offer from Gitzo UK. Gitzo tripods are normally out of the reach of most mortals - but not at the moment - they have a sale on! So if your big lens needs better support look here...

    Swaro CTC 30x75

A friend of mine has one of these scopes (rather nice too) but he is having a problem with the Eye Cup - I think that's what you call it! Anyway the rubber bit on the eyepiece. He is finding it too short and needs it to be between 4 and 6 mm longer. I have contacted Swarowski (awaiting reply)...

    Vortex Guarantee

It has probably been posted here before but I will post just in case. A little while ago I dropped a friends Vortex Viper HD bins and damaged the right eyepiece. I am pleased to report that he had his brand new replacement bins today. His previous pair were about 3 years old not even damaged by...

    Swarovski CTS 85 - HELP!

This is a question for a friend of mine who is considering on of these Draw Tube scopes. Unfortunately I have no experience of this type of scope so I am looking to you for some advice! Does anyone have any experience of / or own one of these? How good/bad are they optically etc etc. Any help...

Birds & Wildlife of the Auvergne

I am in the process of planning a fortnight in the Auvergne in September 2014. Unfortunately I am having some trouble finding any locations for wildlife/bird photography. Does anyone know of any, or know of any suitable sources of information? Thanks in anticipation.

    Kent - Next Week

I may be going to Kent next week - are there any good locations for bird/wildlife photography that members could suggest? I am quite happy to just use my bins and watch but I am, primarily, a photographer - just not familiar with the area. Thanks.

    Canon 300 F2.8 L IS Mk1

Very simple question, I simply need a yes no answer as I don't have a manual. Does the IS on this lens sense when it is on a tripod?

    Canon G9 for Digiscoping

I am currently using a Kowa TSN4 Prominar with an Opticron SDL V2 eyepiece, which is proving to be a good combination. I also have a Canon G9 compact camera, would this be any good for scope work? I have tried a couple of shots hand held but get extreme vignetting (I suspect I may have to live...

    Compact Binoculars

Which should I buy?? I am on the lookout for a good pair of compact binoculars and am having some trouble finding a reliable source of reviews. I can find plenty of reviews for 30mm + bins but little for the small stuff. What I am after is a genuinely useful pair of small binoculars for general...

    When were my ELs made?

I recently purchased a "new" pair of 8.5 x 42 Els (Serial No: L792287xxx). I suspect that they had been hanging around the shop for quite a while due to the price I paid! I was just curious as to how old they were as I read there are differences between the older ones and the later models...

    Heloo! New to this Forum.

HELLO! I am a photographer (well I like to think so!) living in South Wales. I am not into spotting the rarest visitors, I prefer to try and capture images of animals just doing what they do. I also have a keen interest in landscape photography and the natural world in general. My other two main...
