    Great grey owl.

Spotted this Great Grey Owl this morning along the edge of our pond. He was very accommodating, sitting for 30 minutes. After spotting a frog at the water's edge, he swooped down and grabbed the meal before flying off.

More alarmism 'Ecological grief':Greenland residents traumatised by climate emergency

"The climate crisis is causing unprecedented levels of stress and anxiety to people in Greenland who are struggling to reconcile the traumatic impact of global heating with their traditional way of life."...

    Removing glyphosate from drinking water...

Many of us regard the powerful weedkiller glyphosate (Roundup is the most prevalent brand) as one of the biggest dangers to our society and to insects, birds and wildlife overall. Here's an interesting video of a lab conducting an experiment on the removal of glyphosate from drinking water using...

...U.S. leading all Paris Accord signatories in emissions reduction..

Interesting take on the U.S. emissions...a single take, but noteworthy. It's unlikely this information will be posted anywhere else given the mainstream media's hatred of DJT. And it will likely be attacked here by various partisans for partisan reasons...

    Davos Hypocrites.

Davos hypocrites As many as 1,700 private jets will commence in Davos, Switzerland as elites gather for the 2018 World Economic Forum. Yet another glaring example of the jet-setting, carbon-spewing hypocrites who feign interest in AGW. The bigger example of hypocrisy is that when I went to...

    Mantis today....

Captured this mantis with a photo today.... As an aside, we're experiencing incredible forest fire smoke, much of neighboring Canada and Montana is ablaze.

    Hawk today...

The second of two great birding sights today. This young red tailed hawk was ecstatic over it's capture of what appeared to be a cedar waxwing, a beautiful bird in its own right. Mom and dad were circling overhead watching the feast, as was I from below. Not a lot that is man-made around here...

    Leica 65mm cover...

I thought I would share a pretty decent alternative cover for the Leica 65mm angled scope. As we all know the $300 Leica cordura covers are very nice, but insanely expensive. I can find no other manufacturer of aftermarket covers for the 65mm angled series. So....I picked up a Vortex Viper...

White rhino poached in French zoo...

Unbelievable. It's obvious that some will stop at nothing to continue poaching. One can only hope that measures will be implemented to keep this from happening again. http://www.reuters.com/article/us-france-rhino-idUSKBN16E209

    Climate Heretics

Wonderful article here by Judith Curry. She expounds on the marginalization and systematic attack on those who dispute AGW. Worth the read: https://judithcurry.com/2016/12/05/climate-heretic-to-be-or-not-to-be/ I'm sure she'll be attacked and her funding will be questioned in T-minus 3,2...

    Magpie's demise today....

I was looking out the deck window earlier today admiring some magpies scrounging around for a meal, when out of nowhere a peregrine falcon appeared and pounced on one of the magpies. The others went bezerk, it was really chaotic, but the falcon never wavered. The black and white bird was...

    Magpies misbehavin'...

I watched yesterday as a magpie incessantly taunted my domestic free-ranging chickens. I tossed our daily scraps out to the hungry chickens and when they had sufficiently cleaned thing up a magpie swooped down for an undetected bread morsel. He went on about teasing the chickens for a full...

    Question about hummers...

We have many hummingbirds around our place, they are just arriving now, heard one but didn't see it. My neighbor told me that hummers hitch a ride on geese for their migration. Is this BS or the straight scoop? I thought it sounded ridiculous, but nature can confound. Thanks, LB
