    I have in my possession "The Wildfowl of Britain and Europe" - which states is sort of an off-print from "The Birds of the Western Palearctic, Vol I", i.e. the plates is taken from that, plus the text is drawn on the same.     This was my first encounter with any hummer - in dull (no sun) light on Feb 15th '14 near Andree Clark BR, Santa Barbara, jizz alone not sufficient for nailing this species on my own (Best Guess; Anna's). Heavy cropping - no other manipulation done.

    Another raptor

    Again Lesvos, Petra Reservoir - 2011-08-06. Common buzzard Buteo buteo vulpinus or Long-legged B. rufinus? The tail was very light off-white, no distinct bands visible.

    Even if Norway's presumably first Grey-necked Bunting is still present today, Emberiza's aren't plentiful on my local patch. Therefore, I lazily ask for help on the attached pictures! All taken at Lesvos, at the Petra reservoir on 2011-08-06 in the morning, hence hard ligth / deep shadows.

    Buzzard subspecies

    Not familiar with even the common one where I live, I'm asking for your advice on this one photographed on July 8, 2007 near Trigrad in Bulgaria. Is it just a color variety of the Buteo b. buteo or is it a B.b. vulpinus or ? It's the lack of markings/colour on the tail that makes me ask.

    Picture taken in Central Norway / Trondelag. Has appeared the last two winters, occasionally on bird feeder table. Observer's best guess is a hybrid redwing/black thrush. Larger than redwing, longer tail. Anyone care to share their opinion...
