    Gull UK

This gull caused some discussion at Amwell Herts this morning. Seemed to be flat headed, long billed and to some long legged, prompting thoughts of Caspian. Horizontal stance a problem though. Juvenile 1w gulls not really my strong point-any suggestions welcome

    Early Cyclamen

I've got a lot of Cyclamen Hederefolium all over the garden, and noticed one this morning in full flower. From the size, and state of the flowers I would judge that the flowers would have emerged from the ground right at the beginning of August, possibly the end of July. Normally expect to see...

    Northern Orchids

As I have a long weekend coming up, I had planned to spend a few days in northern England visiting a number of butterfly and orchid locations. However the weather is not looking all that great (cool dull wet and windy by the looks of things) so it may have to be postponed for a week or...

    Sottish Orchids

Will be in Scotland second week in July-mainly going for Dragonflies plus birds as usual. Staying with my sister near Loch Ruthven. Hope to get a few of the orchid specialities of the region. The botanical guru at Amwell has given me a few tips, and I have the Harrap guide but i would welcome...

    Leica D Lux 4

Having recently obtained a Leica AT HD65 with the new 25-50x zoom, I discovered that my old Eagle Eye adaptor, which I have not used for a very long time fits very well. Unfortunately my old Coolpix 995 is a bit long in the tooth now, and while the test images I have obtained are acceptable (and...

    Grey Headed Wagtails Beeston Norfolk

Couple of images of male Grey Heaeded Wags at Beeston Regis today-two of three birds. Also posted these on Surfbirds. One seems classic thunbergi with a white supercillum, but the other has a white chin, though it does have the 'necklace'. Any thoughts?
