Pentax PF80 EDa and fixed eyepieces

I've just glanced at a few threads that are many months old that compare the Pentax 80 and zoom with other scopes and fixed eyepieces. I'm aboout to purchase an 80 because of the great price, and have several Televue eyepieces that I use with my 85 that I plan to share between the two scopes...

Two Mexican IDs - Help needed

I have just returned from the Cancun area and saw several Kingbirds, either Tropical or Couch's. Is one more likely than the other in this area? I also saw something that looked like a Brewer's Blackbird, but had a dark eye, and meowed (VERY cat-like) at the beginning of each call. Probably...

    Amazing Scope

I have had 4 scopes in the last few years and have been balancing view against weight, basically. At one end, I've had the Swaro ST80, and at the other a Celestron C5 with Nagler eyepieces. The Swaro was eminently practical and the C5 was astounding in resolution and brightness. But the C5...

    Canon D2000

Is anyone out there using a D2000? It is based on Canon's best film camera (at the time) so is incredibly rugged, etc. The 2 Megapixel CCD seems to be the only drawback to me, but that is often fine even for an 8x10 print. And posting - well it exceeds the limits of most sites. Price is the...

Tripod mount for Swaro ST 80

I'm quite excited because I might actually have something useful to contribute today. I just purchased a second-hand Swaro and had a Manfrotto tripod with 128RC head available. I faced the same problem that we all do with swivelling. My quick release plate has three holes, all threaded. The...

    Another 'plug' for big scopes

I've just received my second-hand Swaro ST-80 and find it a great scope and will be happy using it at the waterfront. That said, I have to admit that, optically, it is absolutely no match to the setup that I sold. I had a Celestron C5 spotting scope with Televue Nagler 13 and 17mm eyepieces...

    1.25 adapter for sT 80

I've just heard of the 1.25 eyepiece adapter for Swaro scopes. Has anyone tried it? I just purchased a second-hand ST 80 and have some truely excellent Televue Naglers (currently on sale). If the adapter idea works, I'll keep the 13mm Nagler, which will give me about 38x, very wide field viewing.

    Experience?

I see no one has posted anything about flash use, and it has become my most recent hope for improvement. So I'm asking. Is anyone out there using flash and, if so, how? Manual, automatic, fill flash (my plan), on camera, off camera, telephoto lenses (I hope)????? :h?: Art

    Hello All

Well this is really exciting, seeing people from all over the world talking! I'm been a bird watcher since I got hold of my first binoculars about 40-some years ago. Luckily, though I lived in the Greater Toronto area, we always got away from the city to more hospitable surroundings. For the...
