    A breeding platform has been built at the Evros Delta for Dalmatian Pelicans to encourage them to start nesting again after an absence of 40 years. See www.birdwing.eu for more info. There's also work going on there to help the Lesser White-fronted Geese.

    I've been unhappy for a while with flight shots at a distance. The attached pic is representative. I nailed it as the focus points show, at a very fast speed which, given that I don't wave the lens around, should have been easily enough to shoot handheld, yet there is a real lack of crispness...

    canada dark bird

    Just had a text from a friend visiting Vancouver Island. Can someone give me an id please. The message reads 'big, dark, like a sooty tern, v in tail with white spot under each wing, catching insects at dusk'. Any ideas?
