    Bird on pole?

I saw this bird in Ottawa, Ontario a few weeks ago. I think it's a Red-tailed Hawk but I can't be certain. Can anyone confirm? I know the images are poor but I was driving by in my car at the time and had to make do with my cell phone camera.

Can someone please ID this bird for me. Sadly, it flew into my window this afternoon and died on impact. I live in Ottawa, Ontario.

    Red-tailed Hawk? (Ottawa, ON)

Saw it perched by side of busy road this morning while driving - low quality pics were best I could do with cell phone. Big bird, medium-dark brown with white on breast. I only saw it perched but it looked like it had a patch of red near base of tail when viewed from the back. I've seen a...

    Nashville Warbler?

Location is Ottawa, Canada. Saw it on a tree outside my home this afternoon. Merlin IDs it as a Nashville Warbler, but could it be an immature female Mourning Warbler, Yellow Warbler, or Common Yellowthroat?

    Sparrow ID

Can someone please ID this sparrow for me (I assume it's a sparrow)? Location is Ottawa, ON. I'm sure it's something very common but it doesn't seem to fit song sparrow, white-crowned, house or chipping. I also have a picture of a woodpecker - I think it's a Hairy but I'm wondering if it could...

    Small Grey Birds

I recently saw these small grey birds in front of my home in Ottawa. At first I assumed they were Dark-eyed Juncos but they seem a bit larger and with longer beaks, so I'm not sure what species they are and they may be a new sighting for me. Can someone please help ID them? Thanks.

    Unknow Bird Song

I saw this bird at Mud Lake in Ottawa this morning. It was small, had a grey back and whitish belly with a black patch on the upper part of its breast. I was too far away to get a good photo but I did record its song. Both photo and audio file are attached. Photo won't help much with ID but...

    Wren & Crane ID

I'm hoping to get a confirmation on two bird IDs. I saw the wren the other day in my back yard (Eastern Ontario) and I'm pretty sure it's a House Wren, but could it be a Winter Wren? The crane was in a field on Manitoulin Island last August. I think it's a Sandhill Crane, which are very...

    Barn Swallow?

I saw a few of these in Ottawa, Ontario recently. They looked pretty dark in colour but it was a cloudy day and I couldn't get a close look. Underbelly looks somewhat pale in the photo. I think it's a Barn Swallow because of the forked tail. Can anyone confirm?

    Unknown Coastal Birds

Hello Again! I saw a few birds on a recent trip to Tadoussac (Quebec, along St. Lawrence & Saguenay rivers), and here are four that I can't ID. I have 2 pics of each bird. Here are my thoughts: 1. Big Black Bird: Double Crested Cormorant? 2. Brown Bird: Spotted Sandpiper? 3. Grey Bird (a...

    Turkey Vulture?

Can anyone confirm if this is a Turkey Vulture? Location is Ottawa, Ontario. I suspect it's a Turkey Vulture but I'm hoping it might be something else - a hawk, perhaps.

ID for bird in Eastern Ontario, Canada

I saw this bird flying above my home in Ottawa, Canada. It was big, had a white underside with black wing tips, and was hovering over the treetops looking for prey. Can someone please help ID it? Thanks!
