    possible Parrot Crossbill Northumberland, UK January 2017

    Falmouth pelagics scheduled for summer 2016

    An article appeared on Birdguides yesterday about pelagics off Falmouth this summer: http://www.birdguides.com/webzine/article.asp?a=5787 Anyone know what the chances are of Wilson's Petrel on these pelagics? Do you need to get on pelagics from Scilly to stand a chance of seeing Wilson's Petrel?

    1kHz low cut filter

    My Olympus LS-12 has a low cut filter which minimises sound less than 1kHz. Do any birds call/sing at less than 1kHz? By turning on the low cut filter, will I fail to record any bird calls/songs?

    What are these blips in recordings made with Olympus LS-12?

    I've made some recordings with an Olympus LS-12. I'm getting repetitive blips in the recordings (sharp, sudden cracking noise), which are showing in the sonagram below as dark lines covering all frequencies. Anybody know what's causing this problem and how I can get rid?

    What is buzzing noise that Olympus LS-12 is recording?

    In recordings made with my Olympus ls-12, there is a constant buzzing noise. You can see it in the sonogram below (the faint think black line at c10kHz). Anyone know what this buzzing noise is?
