Question about updated BD II XD models

The Kowa BD II XD series is currently advertised as having Prominar glass, like the Genesis models. Does anyone know if this is an upgrade over previous BD II XD models? Or more of a marketing thing?

    Where are Hawke monoculars made?

I have the 7x42 Hawke Marine monocular and recently tried the 8x42 Endurance. Couldn't find the country of manufacture on either monocular. Curious if anyone knows where they're made?

    Optics quality expectations

Over the last couple of years I've purchased several budget optics online, most between $100-$300. Name brands, positive reviews, but several binoculars were defective out of the box. I exchanged or returned problem units from 5 different brands. In addition to the inconvenience, I had to pay...

    Good customer service from Bushnell

My Legend Ultra HD 10x25 recently started to have focus problems. I sent them in for a warranty repair and Bushnell sent me new binoculars. Turn-around was quick. Bushnell covered the shipping both ways. Very pleased with their customer service on this.

    DPReview shutdown

For many years, DPReview.com has been one of my go-to resources for photography news, information and reviews. I've found their articles, tools and forums incredibly helpful. If you haven't heard, Amazon just announced they're shutting down DPReview next month and deleting all the data. Some...

Looking for an 8x32 in the $300 range

I've been reading a number of reviews (and posts here), looking for an affordable 8x32 binocular that is better than the Prostaff 7s I currently have. The Prostaffs are sharp and light weight but reflections are an issue and it would be nice to have a wider FOV. Ideally, I'm looking for...

    Prostaff 7s 8x30 questions

I recently bought a pair of Prostaff 7s binoculars to replace my car bins. Allbinos gave this model a good review. But I'm finding center focus to be a challenge at medium distances. For example, I was looking at a bird across the street and couldn't get a sharp focus. But looking at something...

    Oldenburg Binoculars

A bit off topic... I saw the news that artist Claes Oldenburg died, and it seemed appropriate to post something here about the Los Angeles binoculars sculpture he did with his wife. Like much of Oldenburg's public art, oversized and fun. For anybody not familiar with it, here's more information...

    Fuji KF 10x32 issue

I recently bought a pair of Fuji KF 10x32 binoculars. Optically they're good, sharp with accurate color. But the rubber armor has a couple of gaps inside the open bridge. I know of two other newly purchased KF 10x32s that have the same problem, so maybe it's common with this model? For the price...

Hawke Endurance monocular vs Bushnell Legend Ultra monocular

I'm considering a monocular purchase and have narrowed it down to the Bushnell Legend 10x42 Ultra HD monocular (black) or the Hawke Endurance ED 10x42 monocular. Wondering if the Bushnell is worth twice the cost of the Hawke? Anybody have experience with both? Thanks!

    open bridge binoculars

I'm considering getting a small pair of open bridge binoculars to take along when I'm out photographing wildlife. That design seems to be recommended a lot for one-handed operation. Tighten hinge on Bushnell Legend 10x25?

I usually take along my Bushnell Legend 10x25 bins when I photograph wildlife because they're small and light. One hinge is slightly looser than the other and occasionally it gets bumped out of position. Not a big deal but I'd like to tighten it. Can't see any way to do that. Is sending it in...
