Is Swaroclean still used on any current production binoculars?

Just that. I know it’s not on NL but is it still used on any current products? I’ve seen shop listings for SLCs and BTX that mention it but they might just be inaccurate out of date listings copied from older catalogues.

Tried Noctivid and SF 10x today

So. I got a chance to try both of these today. Probably heresy but I didn’t like either. The Noctivid was very good but the CA purple fringing in winter tree branches against the sunny blue sky was really not good. The SF didn’t even get out of the gate because the diopter adjustment isn’t...

    Duovid 10/15 x 50 coatings question

So tomorrow I am spending some time at a dealer where I can compare the only demo Noctivid 10x available (had to ask Leica in Auckland to pretty please send them to the dealer down here) with the 10x SF from the Blue Square. He has those in stock. One other binocular that has piqued my interest...

Difference between Victory 10x32 SF and Victory 10x32 FL

Both these are currently available new in NZ. I cannot really find a lot that explains the differences. The design difference is obvious, but there must be more than that?

    Are Duovids any good?

We still have Duovid stock here in NZ. I can’t find a lot of information. Are they any good?

    Choosing a spotting scope.

I’ve never owned a scope. My shortlist is the usual suspects from Swarovski, Leica and Zeiss. In particular I like the theory of the BTX concept although I’ve never looked through it. How does one decide between objective size, magnification and so on? I can’t find that much information...

Effect of (differential) LASIK on binocular use

A couple of years ago, I had differential LASIK. This means that my left eye is sharply focussed at reading distance and my right at far viewing distance. IRL this essentially gives me at 53 the same vision I had at 16 - I can see everything clearly (if I use both eyes!) from near to far. This...

We specialise in arranging custom trips for special interest small groups - usually photography (can be bird photography!) or general travel. My birding is a...

    Zeiss or Swaro?

Hi I have been a long time lurker, but first time posting. I have a binocular question. At present I have a pair of Leica Ultravid 8x32 (not the HD version) which have served me well for 12 years now. I was thinking of an upgrade to a pair of 8.5 x 42 Swaro EL which here in NZ cost $3,590...
