    This is a fake shot, surely - petrels?

    I am not enough of a pelagic expert to ID the species, but surely these are petrels superimposed in front of the aircraft? Photo seen on an aviation forum on facebook, so I have no info on the purported location or date. (Lufthansa A380, I can ID that bird well enough).

    I know this question is SO basic it might appear unbelievable to some that I could be posting it, but I am new to smartphones. And to apps. Let alone birding with a phone and a birding app. We all have to start somewhere: so if I load the Collins app, will I need data to access it in the field...

    Apologies if this appears to be a very naiive Q: I am only able to stop over on the island for one day, 3pm - 3pm, April 11/12th. I cannot travel with a scope - is this an absolute essential to see/ID a variety of species on the near coast? I realize that, of course, it would be better than...
