    Rembrant?

Another really stunning image from Carlo’s - Fantastic lighting https://www.birdforum.net/gallery/light-dark.660613/ (Delia et al, if you see this, the species tag needs to be amended to Serinus serinus (it’s not Spinus spinus) the link to Opus also need a fix)

    Rescued Hedgehog

I saw a hedgehog looking for seed under the bird feeders (at 11 am). She was clearly extremely underweight for an adult and had probably just woken up. Given that hedgehogs out during the day are usually seriously struggling, I brought her in and put her into a large cardboard box (which I...

    Addition to Opus, Hazel Grouse

One or both of these excellent images of a female Hazel Grouse would make an excellent addition to the Opus page imo, the existing image of a female is fine but not as close up as these images which show plumage details so clearly https://www.birdforum.net/threads/hazel-grouse.405894/post-4157939

    Elegance and Power

Hope this is Ok to post links to two separate images. 1. This is a great shot technically but it is the bird itself that caught my eye - no wonder the Japanese loved to paint herons - the sweeping curves and aesthetically pleasing shape of herons with their elegant postures lends itself to...

    Addition to Opus? Wurdemann's heron

I wondered if it might be an idea to add this photo or a link at least to Opus under Great Blue Heron. Text references this ‘rare’ hybrid morph but there’s no image? https://www.birdforum.net/gallery/wurdemanns-heron.659184/

    Water for birds in winter

Frozen bird baths are always a problem in winter. Birds need water in winter not only to drink but stay warm! Feathers need to be kept in good condition, clean and well arranged which birds do by bathing when necessary so need those birdbaths to be ice free - they preen themselves using oil...

Opus image - Japan - bunting

I was checking some details for Grey Bunting on Opus and have a couple of queries re. the ID of a couple of the images Firstly, the 2nd image marked ‘female’ - many apologies if I am wrong but is this not a female Black-faced Bunting? (the heavy ‘rock pipit’ type streaking on the flanks, the...

    Snags and feathers

https://www.birdforum.net/gallery/reddish-egret.657234/ An interesting and technically excellent image - The lines of the plumes mirrored in the lines on the bark and overall muted russet hues of the habitat makes for a pleasing composition.

    Top Pinger!

Image of the day for me https://www.birdforum.net/gallery/bearded-reedling.656919/ Technically spot on but also a fantastic colour blend of plumage and habitat. Well framed, close up composition with the diagonal of the bird going at right angle to the reed stem all working well on the eye.
