Couple more I forgot about actually. As with many of the others, I'm not that confident with these IDs so any confirmation (or otherwise!) welcome. 17. Eudonia pallida 18. Great Oak Beauty (Hypomecis roboraria) Cheers Paul

    Tuscany Moths August 2019 - part 1

I didn't see many moths on this holiday (Figline Valdarno, Tuscany, Italy, 19th-30th Aug), but some of the ones I did see were pretty good! Four posts coming up, to get around the 5 photo per post limit: some I'm sure of the ID, others I could use some help. Acrobasis tumidana I've got as far...

    Sicily June 2017 - part 5

Fifth and final set from Sicily. The second one (two pics) was a very peculiar looking beast - small, maybe 12-13mm forewing length? I've been scratching my head over the third (two pics) - I'm sure I've seen it posted here or elsewhere as a rare immigrant to the UK, but I can't find a match...

    Sicily June 2017 - part 4

Fourth set from Sicily. Now firmly in the realm of the unknown. I thought the first was a pug to start with but now not so sure.. And I feel I should know no. 2. Cheers Paul

    Sicily June 2017

Spent a very pleasant week in Santa Maria del Focallo in South-east Sicily from 28th May - 4th June. There weren't a great deal of moths at our seaside apartment, but on a few nights I put out a black light and attracted a few, some familiar from my Wirral garden, others more (to me) exotic...

    Liverpool urban birding

Hi all, Having had great views of Kingfisher on Albert Dock today, I thought it would be interesting to ask if anyone else maintains a Liverpool city centre list? Over the last couple of years I've had the following from within sight of my work (Atlantic Pavilion, Albert Dock): Magpie Mute...

    Wirral micro for ID

Having trouble putting a name to this (31/10/2014), anyone give me a pointer?

    Dart sp.?

Having a bit of trouble with this - sure it's something common and obvious that I'm just missing! On its own, with a mate and with a Hebrew Character for size comparison. Cheers Paul

    Carpet sp.?

Juniper Carpet looks the best match to me, but possibly Grey Pine Carpet? Spruce Carpet?? (Trapped Thurs night) Cheers Paul

    V-pug?

Trapped last night. T&W say May-June, but I'm pretty sure that's what it is - is it? (Not a brilliant pic I know).

    Plume moth

My first plume moth since starting trapping a few weeks ago. I'm guessing Emmelina monodactyla, anyone confirm? I'm sure I've seen plenty of these before but it's not until now that I've realised how beautiful and bizarre they are.

    Help with ID

Hi all, I'm just starting my journey into mothing after having recently rediscovered my childhood love of butterflies (after 30 years) and realising there are loads of other interesting lepidoptera too... Put my new trap out for the first time last night and had about 50 million Common Quakers...
