    drongos - Cat Tien NP, Vietnam

    White browed crake? Cat Tien, Vietnam

    this bird was seen on 24 Jan at Crocodile Lake in Cat Tien NP. It has a clear white brow so White Browed Crake ought to fit but the body colouration looks more like a Purple Swamphen. so i can't really find any compplete fit. Any ideas? thanks

    Lesser or Greater Racket-Tailed Drongo - Cat Tien NP, Vietnam

    I cannot tell if this is the Greater or Lesser Racket-Tailed Drongo seen on 23 January in the Cat Tien National Park. It doesn't seem to have the "flat head" of the Lesser but doesn't have the clear crest of the Greater. Is there any way of distinguishing from this poor photo? Thanks, Phil

    kingfisher - Trang An, Vietnam

    can anyone help me to id this kingfisher seen on 15th January at Trang An, Vietnam. Seems to me most likely Black-Capped Kingfisher with white band on neck not showing because of posture and angle. But some pictures of White-Throated Kingfisher though I can't see any brown in my photo.

    Rock pipits? near Lizard Point, Cornwall, UK

    These photos are of 2 different birds seen on clifftop meadows near Lizard Point, Cornwall on 5th April. I think they are Rock Pipits but largely because the markings seem dark and smudged and the legs look brownish with no pink. Is anyone able to confirm (or correct) my ID. Thanks very much. Phil

    Cuckoo ID in Noumea, New Caledonia

    I have been checking some old IDs. This one, from Feb 2013, struck me as odd. I had identified it as an Oriental Cuckoo, Cuculus optatus, but Noumea appears to be outside the range. So is it a Long-tailed Cuckoo, Urodynamus taitensis? Thanks for any help. Phil
