Red comet hummingbird (1 Viewer)

Hello everyone, I am James Dean in San Antonio Texas near sea world. While watering my red honey suckle bush a stunningly beautiful red comet hummingbird appeared. Gave me a full five minute show right in front of me , dashing back and forth showing off all its beautiful colorful plumage. I have many hummingbirds in my back yard but this one was awesome.

Sounds like an interesting sighting, but unlikely to have been a Comet; these are South American non-migratory species. Can you describe it in more detail?

Indeed it's thousands of miles outside the range for any Comet species, I can't think of anything remotely similar that might occur in TX. For that reason I'd be fascinated to know what it is you saw.

Hi, welcome to the forum on behalf of the staff and moderators. I think you will find us a friendly and helpful group.

Hi James and a warm welcome from me too. If you can give a more detailed description of this hummer, or a picture would maybe be better (even if it is out of focus), I'll move this thread to the ID forum, as they're more likely to be able to help you there.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.
