- Black central crown stripe
- Purple lateral crown stripes
- Whitish underparts
Distribution
South America: endemic to Peru
Taxonomy
Subspecies
Two subspecies are recognized[1]:
- O. n. albolimbata:
- Andes of west-central Peru (Huancavelica)
- O. n. nobilis:
- Andes of southern Peru (Cuzco and Apurímac)
Habitat
High-altitude shrubland and lightly wooded areas, particularly with Nicotiana trees.
Behaviour
Diet
Their main diet consists of nectar from agave, cactus and nicotiana flowers.
