    Seafield to Kinghorn

A very hot walk yesterday to the tower from Kirkcaldy. Birding was busier than I thought it would be. Sadly a number of dead Guillemot were among the rocks with quite a few more swimming very close to shore. Otherwise plenty to see, A couple of Black tailed Godwit, Curlew, Greenshank, Redshank...

    Lochore Meadows

After a busy start to the year, we made our first short visit to the west end of the Loch. We only had a couple of hours and picked up 34 species to start the 2022 list. We intend to visit at least once a week as we like to go up to Loch Leven and visit the Firth coast too, so this is the list...

We'll look forward to that, haven't seen a Smew for a number of years, last one was at Loch Kinnordy.

    Lochore Meadows

It's been almost a year now since we made the big move to Scotland and Fife. We are spoilt for choice for birding, there are so many places to go all within 30 minutes of our house, so much so we neglect our local patch, we have only visited on average once a month! So the aim of this first post...

    Seafield to Kinghorn

Finally managed to do a small walk along Seafield yesterday afternoon after running some errands in Kirkcaldy. We only went just past the tower and the tide was high but there were good numbers of Redshank, Turnstone and Purple Sandpipers on the remnants of the old wall. Lots of Cormorants and...

    Seafield to Kinghorn

A quick visit yesterday afternoon, after running some errands in Kircaldy. Delighted to find a Whimbrel near the Tower, our first of the year. Otherwise very quiet, only other waders seen were Oystercatchers. Gannet numbers building up in the Firth though and spotted some Sandwich Terns flying...

    Seafield to Kinghorn

It's been longer than we intended since our last walk here, but having to go to B&Q in Kirkcaldy meant it would have been rude not to go for a walk down at Seafield. The usuals suspects were about, Redshank, Turnstone, Ringed Plover, Oystercatcher, Eider. We didn't have the scope with us but...

    Seafield to Kinghorn

Thanks, ee have been, but usually late afternoon on our way home from the coast, so the sun makes it difficult to see what's on the far side of the loch, must try and do the loch first!

    Seafield to Kinghorn

Walked from the Seafield car park as far as the steps down to the railway yesterday afternoon with the tide coming in. With the great weather and calm water it was great sit and get the scope out. Found a couple of nice rafts of Common Scoter and three Velvet Scoter. There were a few Long-tailed...

    Seafield to Kinghorn

Thanks, Blairadam is on our list for a regular place to visit, been once so far. It was very quiet bird wise first time, but a great walk nonetheless.

    Seafield to Kinghorn

Thanks the move was OK, the small question of a pandemic didn't help though! We are still exploring the area as best we can under the circumstances, however I do have a question, if anyone can help. Is there somewhere in Fife that is reliable for Crossbills? Although we have seen them before...
