    Many other Agapornis do hybridize in captivity. But the offspring are almost always sterile. It seems that Fischer's and Yellow-collared may have evolved from the same ancestor. So they have a very similar genome, that allows their offspring to be fertile.

    Hi DT! Yes hybridization is quite common in these 2 species, especially in the introduced populations. More than 90% of the introduced birds have traits from both species. And they've bred very successfully. They number in their thousands today. It's actually becoming a threat that might breed...
