    Fujinon HC 8x42

A "Lifetime Warranty" is only good for the lifetime of the company that sold it, not the lifetime of the product. Indeed the lifetime warranty may in fact contribute to the demise of the company as warranty claims build up. Revenue from sales comes today whereas warranty costs come further down...

Swarovski CL pocket 8*25 lens covers

Why not ask your question on the Opticron sub-forum? eg "Which Opticron objective covers fit Swaro CL 8x25" Pete Gamby of Opticron frequently responds to threads there and would be the best source of information.

Product Review: The Extraordinary Svbony SV202 8 x 42 ED.

Back in 2021 I found that Amazon had by far the best price here in Australia on the 8x32 and 10x42 and included free (and fast!) shipping. Plus it would be a lot easier to return them if necessary than shipping back to China. The Amazon seller is Retevis which is Svbony's parent company, on...

    Oberwerk 8x32 SE

Also the Vixen Foresta 8x42 porro was a dead ringer for the Swift Audubon 820.

    Celestron Nature DX

see my post #5 above. They've transposed the columns for the 8x and 10x.

    Celestron Nature DX

if you look at the specs for the 8x42 you'll notice that the magnification is given as 10x whereas the 10x32 is listed as 8x. The FOV and ER for the 8x42 are consistent with what you'd expect for a 10x32 and conversely those for the 10x32 look applicable to 8x42. It would seem that they.ve...

    No more Nikon 8x20 HG L ?

Just because Nikon USA or Nikon Canada chooses to discontinue marketing a particular model binocular in their market doesn't mean that the model is necessarily discontinued by Nikon Japan. If the Kyoei Japan website is to be believed https://www.kyoei-tokyo.jp/html/page42.html then the HGL...

Gijs' Comprehensive Test of Transmission in Pocket Models

What strikes me about Gijs' chart is how well the Pentax Papillio scores with transmission in the 80% range - that's Trinovid territory - and a 15mm eye relief. And Dennis complains that the Papillio is "dim" - compared to his Habicht maybe but for a $100 reverse Porro this is damn good. If only...

    Vintage Skyline

The best place to post your question is in the Binocular forum at the CloudyNights astronomy site, that's where all the vintage binocular experts hang out. Do a search on the forum first for Skyline, you may find that the info you need has already been posted. If not start a new thread with your...

    Monarch M7

Thanks for that explanation, it's now obvious that you've done your research and are making an informed choice. Like most things in life there are pluses and minuses to every choice so what suits me doesn't necessarily suit you. I know what you mean about seeing the flaws, once you've become...

    Monarch M7

If you're not that into birding why not look at a lower-priced binocular? The Svbony 202 ED models seem to be fairly reasonable performers for a bargain price if you get a good set - look at the recent reviews here on BF and on CloudyNights. Just make sure you can return them if there's a...

    Royal Navy current use binoculars?

Well it looks like my memory was somewhat faulty. I now think I read that in the essay "NO GUNNERY WITHOUT GLASS - OPTICAL GLASS SUPPLY AND PRODUCTION PROBLEMS IN BRITAIN AND THE USA, 1914-1918" By Stephen Sambrook, found at the Peter Abraham's site...
