Great shot. I recently saw these in Provence. Being new to digiscoping I struggled to get a decent shot, but they were so obliging, hanging around for ages while I set up the scope. The results?..... well they just about prove that I saw bee eaters. I'll have to save up for the kit you have...

    Provence birding info please

I was hoping somebody would tell me this was a good time, and I remember reading of Eagle owls not too far from Gordes, probably in one of the guides, I'll see if I can find it when I get home, so this all sounds hopefull. Thanks Steve Any more info please................

    Provence birding info please

A week in Provence as an aniversary present. If I could present my wife with a view of an Eagle owl, I'm confident that she would let me spend a couple of days birding. So any info would be appreciated, especialy on those Owls. We are staying near Gordes, this month, June. I may not get back to...

Looks like he's been caught red handed.....so to speak, nice shot, and encouraging for me as I've just invested in a 4500.

    Aberdovey/Aberdyfi

Sorry I didn't get back to this sooner, but straight after my last post we went to the Lakes. Imagine this..... the sun is shining, it's actually warm, the glass of beer is half full, or half empty, depending on the mood, you're wearing shorts and no socks, ( yes this is somewhere in the Lake...

    Aberdovey/Aberdyfi

Rob, Trealaw boy, I did pretty well for me, and we had a good relaxing break as well. Aberdyfi is an interesting place, and pretty. My better half was happy walking the beach while I was scanning the dunes. That is where I had my first ever glimpse of a Peregrine hunting, I assume it was at...

    Aberdovey/Aberdyfi

Once again, I make a simple inquiry and gets lots of info. It may be too early for migrants, but I'm hoping to make up for that at Janes RR minimeet. Rob, Trealaw Boy thank you Steve

    Aberdovey/Aberdyfi

Trealaw Boy Thanks for that, I was just looking up Ynis-hir on the RSPB site but it doesn't give much info except facilities etc. still, it looks worth a visit, and it's close. The Kites would be great, it would save me driving to Gigrin. A Great Grey Shrike would be brilliant, I'll keep my...

    Aberdovey/Aberdyfi

I will be spending 4 nights in Aberdyfi/dovey from 19th April, next week that is. Are there any specific sites I should visit. I can't find any info in BF,which is surprising. It seems to have a good crooss section of habitat, so here's hoping. Thanks in advance. Steve

    Lake District Ospreys

I was there on Saturday, I arrived two hours after the male, perfect timing, but he was down the other end of the lake for my visit. They have improved the viewpoint, with another scope and yes, finally, a bench. There were a couple of very helpfull volunteers as well. Siskins and Red Squirels...

    Recording bird songs

Thanks for all the advice. A good selection of web sites as well, especially the British Library site, I got lost in there for a couple of hours. I think I may look into the Hama RMZ 10 mic, with a minidisc, or maybe use my Sony camcorder, although this would be heavy compared to a minidisc...

    Recording bird songs

I thought that a solid state recorder( if thats what you call one that doesn't need a disk or tape) would be cheaper, will google it and find out. A mini disk would come in handy for music, so better I'd check them out as well. It's good to hear that someone has used a dictaphone with success...
