    Bird id please anyone?

Yes!! I've looked up some pictures, and Lapwing is it! I always thought they were smaller than the birds I saw, which is why it didn't occur to me. Many thanks for helping me out!

    Bird id please anyone?

This was a fleeting glance from a car window as I was driving at 50 mph, but I saw 3 fairly large birds over some fields having a bit of a scrap. They seemed considerably larger than a crow, had white belly & the underside of the wings were black with quite rounded edges. I can't find ANYTHING...

    Duck id help please

Thanks! Now I know what I'm looking for, I can see that there's a pair with a chick. It makes alot of noise for such a small duckling! It's a tiny pond, really- just 20x30 metres at a very rough guess. It's well surrounded by reed mace & it's not visible from the road that runs just a few metres...

    Duck id help please

Oh my God! Yes, that's it!! Thank you so much! When I saw it from a distance, I didn't think it could be a little grebe- are they common? BTW- what did I actually put as the thread title?? nothing rude, I hope.. if so, it was completely accidental!!

    Duck id help please

Hi all. You have helped me in the past & I'm hoping someone might know what I'm trying to describe! I live just outside Bognor Regis and have recently discovered a small but beautiful pond on the edge of farmland to walk my dogs around. There are mallards, moorhens, coots, occasionally a pair...

    Little Egrets in Bognor Regis

Hi. I've seen a group of 3 little Egrets on the way out of Bognor Regis, 3 days in a row. Never seen them before, not sure if anyone else has in this area?

ID help please- South Coast UK

Spoke to a neighbour this morning, and she identified it as a redwing! Thank you all for your input!

ID help please- South Coast UK

'll have to watch out for a better view- they are a bit smaller than pigeons, but noticeably larger than the starlings & blackbirds that were also around at the time, by maybe 20% or so.

ID help please- South Coast UK

I've looked at a few pictures, but the birds in the photos are more brown than what I've seen. In the flesh, the back & underside of the wings look darker and the belly looked lighter- almost white....

ID help please- South Coast UK

Hello all. Hope you're all keeping warm & safe! I live near Chichester on the south coast, 2 miles from the shore in one direction & I have fields & green space half a mile in the other. There's a large tree out the front of my home and yesterday, we saw a flock of birds that were slightly...

Fledgling ID needed- South Coast England

Thank you very much for this info. It has highlighted the fact that hand rearing a pigeon squab is NOT for the untrained, as it has to be tube fed. I found a wild bird rescue centre in my area (Brent Lodge) and took it to them this afternoon. They're fairly convinced that it is too young to...

Fledgling ID needed- South Coast England

Tell me about it!! It's probably the ugliest baby bird I've ever seen! It has made it through the night and is moving around well this morning. It squeaked at me when I opened the box, although it still doesn't want to feed. I'm giving water through a syringe regularly and will persevere with...

Fledgling ID needed- South Coast England

Hi Richard, I'm very grateful for that- I had suspected pigeon, but couldn't be certain. I'll update on its progress, if it survives. Lou

Fledgling ID needed- South Coast England

I really need help to identify this little chap. I think I've added 3 pics to help- he was bought in by my cat 8 hrs ago. I can't look after it properly until I know what it is. I've been feeding it a mixed protein/cereal/fruit pulp, it's had antibiotics from the vet & has had a wound glued. It...
