    Id The Thief

I was just about to say something along these same lines. There's a definite step-over distraction going on there!

Reliable sites for Tree Sparrow in Herts

Already a member, have been for years. I was just seeing if birdforum could still be as useful/interesting/entertaining as it used to be years ago. Not looking too good so far, seems to mainly be for twitchers now :-C EDIT: Not that I'm accusing anybody of being a Twitcher you understand

    Ravens around Whitwell still?

Hi, again, not really expecting any replies :-C Does anybody know if the Ravens are still around the Whitwell area? If so, are they present year round or would I be better off visiting around February/March next year? On a quest to add to my county list Cheers

Reliable sites for Tree Sparrow in Herts

RFI: Reliable sites for Tree Sparrow in Herts? Hi all. Not expecting this to get much of a response as there seems to be a dearth of Herts birders for some reason (have you all moved to Bedfordshire?) but I'm trying to get a few more species on my county life-list (currently on 143 - pitiful)...

Any tips for a wannabe gull watcher?*

Thanks all for the advice/tips so far. I reckon I've got enough to keep me busy this winter now. Cheers

Any tips for a wannabe gull watcher?*

Spent too long doing that I reckon (maybe not the pub bit though)

Any tips for a wannabe gull watcher?*

Thanks for that Richard, found both of those now (you've saved me at least an evening's worth of getting sidetracked by re-reading old mags!) I think I probably glossed over those articles first time round, being Gulls and all that ;) I'll just skim through a few more now and read through those...

Any tips for a wannabe gull watcher?*

Any tips for a wannabe gull watcher?*

(* I nearly said "Guller", but that means something else entirely! o:D) I've resisted for far too long (mainly through fear I suppose) but I've finally succumbed to the larid lure. I've decided that this winter is the one when I'm finally going to connect with my own Glaucous or Iceland or...

    Visiting Icklesham

Hi all, I'm going to be going on my first visit to Icklesham (as a fairly advanced 'T' permit - my trainer is coming too) the first weekend in October. Does anybody who's been before have any tips or advice they wish they'd known before their first visit? ;)

    Isabelline Shrike in Norfolk

A quick "Google" brings up a few references to the bird (though nothing specific to race) with the most useful probably being this: http://www.birdguides.com/rbcd/species.asp?s=122082 as the extra references listed could be useful sources of info. HTH

How does an egg hit my window?

It looks like a woodpigeon egg to me (the black dots look like grit from the floor - the eggshell itself will be pure white). Are there any trees near your window that could have a woodpigeon nest in it? (they're just fairly crude twiggy platforms) If it's not plausible that the wind has blown...

    Birding Injuries?

There was a similar thread to this years ago, where I recounted my most uncomfortable moment whilst birding Not an injury as such (unless you can count injured pride?) but I still remember it to this day http://www.birdforum.net/showpost.php?p=106946&postcount=4
